Aoki pulled Kamizrei along as they rushed toward the light, emerging from the dark cave into the open.
Before them lay a vast, untouched jungle, and beyond that, an endless sea stretched out beneath the bright midday sun. The two of them had apparently been sucked into an underwater tunnel by the whirlpool and deposited on this mysterious island's interior.
Kamizrei let out a sigh of relief. "It looks like this place is uninhabited. At least we're on land. As long as we can find a way to leave, we should be fine."
Aoki nodded. "Let's explore the island first."
Taking the initiative, he grasped Kamizrei's hand. She felt a rush of warmth and a hint of shyness but didn't resist.
As they walked toward the coast, Aoki surveyed the surrounding sea. Countless whirlpools churned across the surface, forming a natural barrier around the island. It was clear that few, if any, ships could approach this place safely.
"There's no easy way out of here," Kamizrei observed, her expression becoming serious.
She lacked a Water-type Pokémon capable of carrying them across the ocean, and while Aoki had Greninja, it wouldn't be enough to navigate such dangerous currents. They couldn't afford to be stranded here for long.
Aoki, however, remained unfazed. While he currently lacked a fully evolved Water-type Pokémon, he still had Corphish. It wouldn't be long before it evolved into Crawdaunt, providing them with a reliable means of escape.
With a teasing smirk, he said, "Kamizrei, if we really can't leave this place… maybe we should settle down and have kids here."
Kamizrei's face instantly flushed a deep red, her heartbeat quickening.
Was Aoki serious?
She had always admired his calmness and capability, and after everything they'd been through, the idea didn't seem entirely impossible. If they were truly stranded, wouldn't it make sense to—
Before she could entertain the thought any further, Aoki cut in, chuckling. "Alright, enough daydreaming. Let's head to the island's center. There might be rare Pokémon here."
Snapping out of her thoughts, Kamizrei quickly followed behind, still feeling flustered but also oddly intrigued.
As they ventured deeper into the jungle, they encountered numerous Pokémon—various Grass-types and Fire-types roaming about. While the biodiversity was impressive, none of them particularly caught Aoki's interest.
Then, he suddenly stopped, his eyes locking onto a floating figure in the distance—a Magnemite.
Pokémon Identified:
• Name: Magnemite
• Strength: Intermediate
• Potential: Quasi-Elite
If Aoki had come across this Pokémon earlier, he might have considered capturing it. But now, with his own Electivire, he had no need for another Electric-type.
Instead, he turned to Kamizrei. "Hey, Kamizrei, there's a Magnemite over there. Its potential is decent. You should try catching it."
Kamizrei's eyes lit up. "Alright, leave it to me!"
As an Electric-type specialist, she had been looking to expand her team, and this was a perfect opportunity.
"Alright, Zebstrika, go! Use Flame Charge!"
Zebstrika dashed forward, flames igniting around its body as it barreled into Magnemite.
"Mi-mi!"
The Magnemite let out a sharp cry, sparks crackling around it as it attempted to stabilize itself. Though the attack had landed cleanly, the Pokémon's durability kept it from going down immediately.
"This one's tough," Aoki remarked.
Kamizrei nodded. "Zebstrika, one more time! Flame Charge!"
With another burst of speed, Zebstrika crashed into Magnemite, this time sending it spiraling through the air before it finally dropped to the ground, unable to continue battling.
"Poké Ball, go!"
Kamizrei threw the Poké Ball, watching as it shook three times before clicking shut. She had successfully captured the Magnemite.
"Yes! I got it!" Kamizrei beamed, holding up the Poké Ball in excitement.
Now, with Emolga, Zebstrika, Eelektross, and Magnemite, her Electric-type team was shaping up nicely. Though none of them had reached Elite potential yet, their growth was promising.
Aoki nodded approvingly. "Nice catch. Let's keep moving. There's something ahead that I want to check out."
Opening his system's map, he saw that the diamond treasure chest was close.
But whose Pokémon was guarding it?
Or… was there an Elite-level trainer on this island?
The second possibility was unlikely, but not impossible.
Kamizrei followed Aoki closely, sensing his increased caution. The dense forest ahead made visibility difficult, and the possibility of encountering a hostile Pokémon was high.
Noticing Aoki's serious expression, Kamizrei whispered, "Is something wrong?"
"Be careful. I sense danger ahead."
Lowering his voice, Aoki moved forward stealthily, ensuring that even his Pokémon remained inside their Poké Balls to avoid drawing attention. If it was just an Elite-level opponent, he could handle it. But if it was a Champion-level Pokémon, things could get complicated.
Kamizrei stayed close, not daring to make a sound.
As the forest thinned out, they suddenly came upon a large lake in the middle of the island.
Aoki's eyes narrowed.
If there was a Pokémon guarding the treasure chest… it was most likely the ruler of this lake.
A massive blue figure emerged from the water.
Not only was it huge, but its aura radiated overwhelming power. This was no ordinary Pokémon—it was a true apex predator.
Aoki's grip tightened on his Poké Ball.
What exactly had they just stumbled upon?
