V3/Chapter 19: Can this be broadcast?

"Hey, did you hear that?"

In a school in a Chinese city, a dozing boy in the corner seat was suddenly shaken awake. Rubbing his eyes, he saw his friend looking at him mysteriously.

(TL: WTF I thought Chinese is already extinct in PE )

"Huh? Hear what?" The boy gradually regained consciousness. "Oh, you mean that new game coming out next week?"

"Of course not - that release date was announced ages ago!"

Seeing his friend's drowsy state, the boy simply pulled up a chair. "Don't tell me you were gaming past midnight again?"

"Yeah, so what?" The boy propped his chin on his hands, gazing out the window. "Anyway..."

There was no one left to care - his parents had died in the tsunami that devastated Nagazora City years ago, and their bodies had never been recovered.

"I get not caring about reality, but you could at least pretend to change." His friend sighed. "Whatever. Listen - someone leaked a video about the Australian wildfires showing the real truth! It wasn't wildfires at all, but some other terrifying disaster!"

"Serious?" The boy turned with mild interest. "Well that makes sense - no normal wildfire could burn all of Australia... But we've seen like 800 'truth' videos by now. What's the story this time?"

Though nearly a year had passed since the Australian catastrophe, unanswered questions remained. Any rational person could see the official "wildfire" explanation didn't hold up. What kind of fire could engulf an entire continent in a week, leaving less than half the population alive? Why were there countless videos showing military mobilization before the disaster peaked?

Because authorities had strictly censored all information, countless "truth" videos had surfaced, ranging from "North American superweapons gone rogue" to "divine punishment." At first, people were intrigued, but as theories grew increasingly absurd, public interest waned. Between constant tsunamis, storms, plagues, and the recent massive explosion on Mu Continent, humanity had grown numb to disasters.

"This time it's different! This looks real!" His friend lowered his voice dramatically, pulling out his phone. "Check this out!"

The boy almost refused - he'd seen enough self-proclaimed "investigators" peddling conspiracy theories. But something about this video immediately grabbed his attention.

No narration. No edits. Just raw footage documenting everything.

A city engulfed in flames. A tidal wave of monsters devouring everything in their path - crushing vehicles, toppling buildings, trampling fleeing civilians. Life extinguished as easily as stepping on grass.

"What...is this?" The boy whispered.

Part of him wanted to dismiss it as CGI, but something deeper told him this was real.

"No clue," his friend murmured. "Comments say they're Honkai Beasts."

"Honkai Beasts?" The boy stiffened. "Related to that Honkai disease?"

"No idea. Just watch - it's not over."

The camera panned toward the beasts' origin point, revealing a silhouette.

A slender figure with long hair, barely discernible through the smoke. Compared to the monstrous horde, she appeared fragile, like she might shatter from a single touch. Yet the creatures kept their distance, clearly subservient to her. Without explanation, the boy understood - these monsters were her slaves.

Then came the horrifying revelation.

A casual wave of her hand. A shockwave of fire erupts outward in all directions. Buildings instantly vaporized in the expanding ring of destruction.

Was this...the truth behind Australia?

The boy no longer questioned the video's authenticity. Swallowing hard, he croaked: "Send me that video."

"Just watch it online. This clip is..." His friend suddenly froze. "This video...it's still up."

Understanding dawned. Discussions about Australia and other disasters were always swiftly censored worldwide. Text posts, commentary videos - all disappeared instantly. Yet this footage remained untouched.

Unless...someone wanted it seen.

The boys exchanged uneasy glances. Something fundamental had changed.

Before they could process this, a piercing alarm shattered the sky.
