Chapter 44 - chapter 44

"Looks he's worth being the Mini boss, like I said, although in this case, it looks more like a raid boss demolishing a bunch of underleveled mobs"

Shigaraki stated as he began to scratch his neck.

"What will you do, Tomura Shigaraki?"

Kurogiri questioned as he stood beside Shigaraki. With the grace and poise of a seasoned butler, the man knew his role well and committed to it. His job was not to guide but to listen.

"Hmm"

Shigaraki hummed in thought. He felt the cold steel on his hand and contemplated using the gun once more, but truthfully, his aim was piss poor, plus he only really brought the gun for intimidation purposes. Using it again would risk hitting his men.

Now, of course, he didn't care. However, if he wished to create a proper league of villains, then he needs to appear at least trustworthy even if he isn't. What's important is that his followers believe that he is trustworthy.

"Well since All Might isn't back yet and that little runt master wanted to test is yet to complete the test, I'd say the best thing to do is wait but… that's boring"

Shigaraki said before raising the arm carrying the gun up in the air and letting a single shot reverberate throughout the area and halting the ongoing battle as everyone became shocked by the sudden.

"Now that I have your attention, fall back"

He ordered. However, there was only a handful still standing, and a majority were knocked out and on the floor, realising this he let out a chuckle.

"I guess you're more than just a mini boss Eraserhead, still though they way you fight is pretty cool, you're like some type of modern ninja"

Shigaraki complimented the hero. His words were earnest. Shigaraki was never the type to like overpowered characters that can end a fight with a single punch, Heroes like Eraserhead just felt right, or maybe it's just because he likes the ninja types.

"Your point?!"

Aizawa asked curtly, his attention turning toward Shigaraki as the villains seemed to stop attacking. Honestly, Aizawa appreciated the moment to breathe.

"Don't be rude, I just think you're cool, that's all"

Aizawa couldn't help but squint his eyes, his mind trying its best attempts at unraveling the villain's words. Aizawa didn't truly believe the villain would say something like that completely unprompted, yet he struggled finding the deceit in the villain's words.

"But I've already figured out how your quirk works. your hair stands up whenever you use it, and it falls when you deactivate it"

Aizawa wasn't surprised. It was only a matter of time after all. However, he took a more defensive stance, and his attention returned back to the handful of villains that still had him surrounded. He could see some of them testing out their quirks.

"I'd suggest cutting your hair to make it less obvious, but it's thanks to that, I was able to figure it out. Anyway, like I said, all of you fall back."

He ordered, and the handful of small fries that were surrounding Aizawa began to back away. With a slight hand gesture, the Nomu stepped forward.

Aizawa took a bow breath, and he felt his stomach drop as he realized the advantage he had was now lost.

"Nomu attack"

With that single command, the Nomu kicked off the ground, leaving a crack as it lunged forward, launching itself like a missile.

Aizawa barely had time to block as its large fist struck his arms with such force that he could feel the power of the attack deep in his bones.

The force of the attack launched him back, like a ragdoll being tossed to the wind. his forearms that he used to block tingled in slight pain, reminding him of the attack.

He spun himself upright and touched down on the ground, letting himself slide back on the floor like he was figure skating.

Unfortunately, barely seconds after touching down the Nomu was already before him, it swung its massive leg, going for the ribs; however, due its size, the leg covered the entirety of Aizawa's torso.

Blocking was out of the question, so Aizawa ducked down and let the kick fly over his head. it generated a powerful shockwave as it went over his head.

With Nomu standing on one leg, Aizawa took the chance. He did a leg sweep, and as it fell, Aizawa prepared to attack.

However, the Nomu caught itself from falling by doing a backflip and standing upright once more, demonstrating flexibility and agility despite its hulking size.

'It's agile too! the fuck is this thing!'

He thought inwardly, he had assumed he would have the advantage when it came to agility, however that seemed to be incorrect, not only that he had thought its quirk was super strength yet despite using his quirk to cancel it out, it still moved as if unaffected.

His gut was correct, any advantage he had was now lost. The only thing he could do was stall. Hopefully All Might will arrive sooner or later, wherever he was sent by the villain shouldn't be too far with his kind of speed.

Nomu charged once more, forcing Aizawa to be on the defensive except this time blocking the attacks was out of the question, so he could only dodge.

He sidestepped to the right and evaded a hand swipe from Nomu, before ducking down evading an oncoming back hand from the same hand he dodged.

Aizawa then slid under Nomu's legs, getting behind it, however the creature turned with a vicious kick that forced Aizawa to bend backwards and barely dodge it by a hair's breadth.

'Getting too close is dangerous, it's faster than me'

He jumped back creating distance. It was obvious to him the creature was mindless. There was no emotions on its face, and it looked to be following orders

"meaning…"

Aizawa glanced at Shigaraki, as he realised that if he wants to end this fight he has to take out the boss.

Unfortunately for Aizawa, that split second glance at Shigaraki was a mistake. Nomu suddenly grasped his torso with its entire hand.

Aizawa gasped in both shock and as a measure to brace himself as he was lifted off the ground and slammed onto the stone hard floor with enough force to crack and deformed it.

BAM!

As his body hit the floor, he groaned in pain and coughed out a spittle of blood. The force of the hit made his head spin and blurred his vision.

The Nomu pinned him down, using its one hand to keep him trapped beneath it, and as he thought of a way to escape, he heard the sound of clapping.

Shigaraki slowly walked to where Nomu held Aizawa, clapping his hands as he did so.

"Seriously you're so cool, Nomu was meant to kill All Might, yet you still manage to fight it even if it was for a few seconds."

Hearing that piece of information, Aizawa couldn't but let out a chuckle.

As a hero, Aizawa did not mind having his work go unrecognised. He was perfectly fine being an underground hero, he did not like the press nor did he like the idea of having fans however he appreciated the likes of All Might, the idea of a symbol of peace brought hope to hearts of the people.

It made them know that there are heroes out there willing to protect their peaceful and everyday life, people that will be shields against evil and treachery.

"Whats so funny? your life is quite literally in our hands right now"

Shigaraki stated, however, Aizawa did not seem intimidated. the smile of amusement on his face did not vanish.

"What's funny is that you think this thing can match up to the symbol of peace. if it takes a few seconds for it to take me down, then it has nothing on All Might"

The hero said, his words filled with confidence, Aizawa was unconvinced that this thing holding him down had the ability to take down All Might.

"Heh People tend to cling to false hope when faced with an unpleasant reality. All Might will make it back in a few minutes, and we'll see who's right."

The villain said, pausing before looking at Aizawa with a look that showed a lot of contempt and anger.

"I should kill you for even thinking that my Master would ever be wrong!"

Shigaraki spoke his tone, conveying his irritation and anger. the gun on his hand slowly rose and aimed at Aizawa's head.

There was still silence that settled into the area as Aizawa starred at the barrel of the gun, his body pinned down and unable to move. He didn't try to escape or anything.

This was the life of a hero. It's rare that they die peacefully and naturally. A villain always does the job, and Aizawa accepted that.

"No one is above being wrong, you idiot! pull the trigger and be done with it"

The already existing tension became palpable and heavy. Despite his words, Aizawa's heart slammed against his chest like a drum being beat. He may have accepted the possibility of death, but that did not mean he wanted to die.

"I'd say you're cool for being level-headed for something like this, but insulting my Master is unforgivable. A shame, you would have been my favorite hero"
