"B-But…" Esther stammered, "Now, she avoids me as if I wronged her. And she likes to stay with sis."
Max fell into contemplation.
"At first, it hurt me but now, it's fine… How can someone not like my sis?"
"Her?" Max scoffed, "I would be surprised if this whole thing was not her scheme. But I wonder why Ella has started targeting you. I thought she loved you the most," Max turned to Esther.
Esther broke into tears as she sobbed vehemently.
Thinking about how she changed her attitude towards him as well, Max sighed and patted Esther's shoulder, "Let her be—"
His words trailed off when Esther suddenly threw herself into his arms.
"B-Brother-in-law, you are the best…" She sobbed harder.
Max froze, feeling the girl's curves flush against him, "Didn't you say you won't call me that anymore?"
Esther looked up, her eyes wide, "M-Max?"
Max's eyes darkened when she slowly shifted to his lap, her arms hooking around his neck, "Max…" She whispered his name.
