Red Hearth [May 2008]
–Colin Baxter–
"You do realise that I won't be able to do much besides protecting you from the goddess?" Jin'Ya told him, for the tenth time today, as he nodded at that, shovelling food into his mouth, made by Jin'Ya, which was phenomenal. Being alive for who knows how long sure made Jin'Ya a master chef, despite not having a body with taste buds the majority of the time.
"Yes, I know but you also have to know that if we do not check in on the situation there, which must be drastically different than before, then, one day, it might just spillover to the rest of the world and you know how the world would react to a superpower appearing out of thin air, one that is vastly more advanced than the entirety of the planet and has no long standing allies."
"War, and Genocide will be imminent," Jin'Ya mused out loud, as he nodded at that. Soon, he lost his appetite as he imagined the reaction of the world and the war that would soon follow, devastating at the very least a few countries, killing millions across both sides, and displacing hundreds of millions more. It would just be….catastrophic.
He shook his head, pushing the food away, as he stood up, "Come on. No time to waste."
Jin'Ya, understanding the severity, flexed his authority as the Guardian of Red Hearth to transport them directly to the portal room where a purple portal was waiting for them.
Before he could step in, though, "Wait. Where does this go?" he gestured at the portal.
Jin'Ya paused for a bit as the benefits of their mental bond came in handy, the portal flickering for a bit before the greenery was replaced by the endless blue of the sky.
"Outside Wakanda?"
"Yes."
With that, he jumped through the portal, and fell down, Jin'Ya slowly trailing behind him, disguised as a small purple light. He made no effort to hide himself, so he expected quite a bit of company soon enough. Not many people knew that he was Mysterio, with Shuri being the only outsider who knew, and he hoped that she had not divulged that information to anyone else.
With a small burst of air from his Air Doors, he slowed down at the last moment, multiple arms, reminiscent of Doc Ock, bursting out of his back, as he landed on the ground. The enchantments on his suit kept him hidden from any cameras that were pointed his way, as he began walking towards the small settlement of the Border Tribe.
People were already starting to get out of their huts with their primitive looking spears and costas, which were actually vibranium energy spears and energy shields woven into fur, which was very impressive.
He had a feeling that the makers of Marvel simply used Vibranium as an advanced material as the basis for some truly bullshit technology, sidestepping any actual technological explanation or rationale.
Soon enough, he was standing in front of a small squad of Border Tribe members who looked very tense, with their spears ready to be drawn at a moment's notice, another squad ready with their shields behind them as well, just looking at the stranger who had wandered into Wakanda's territory.
"Halt! You are in Wakanda's territory. State your business!" He blinked in surprise as fluent English flew out of the Border Tribe member. Huh, maybe they used English for any passerby that came here?
"I am here to meet Princess Shuri. Please tell her that Mysterio is here to visit." He said out loud, hoping to get the message across without any drama but it would seem that his wishes were for naught as the person who spoke first squared up his shoulders, nostrils flaring as he replied.
"It is Queen Shuri to you, outsider! And no outsider can just demand a meeting with our Queen. So leave! Before we make you," And there we go, all the spears were drawn, aiming towards him. He also turned to the side a bit as another squad of Border Tribe warriors were slowly trying to circle around his position, trying to box him in.
He sighed at that, the Doc Ock arms flexing their position into the ground, burying themselves deeper for a more stable foundation. He was not going to move from here, not until they called in Shuri, who was probably on her way here anyway since border skirmishes were not really common for Wakanda and Shuri being Queen, which was not much of a surprise to him, would be informed of it soon enough.
"I will leave when you give my message to Queen Shuri. It is important," He clearly stated out loud, which drew surprised glances from the person who had been speaking to him before he began relaying his orders to the rest of his team, which were probably somewhere along the lines of capture and imprisonment.
Well, too bad.
The first attack came from the side, actually, with two people jumping at him, with the help of some enhanced footwear, he noted, spears drawn, ready to impale him, which did not look like something they would do if they wanted to capture him but then again, he was not a normal human so that little bit could be excused.
That was clearly some sort of signal as the rest of the members, with a war cry, rallied forward, spears drawn as well though he noted that none of them had visibly used anything that could be tied back to Wakanda and its secret superpower status.
The marching army's pace stumbled a bit as they saw his answer to the surprise attack.
Three Doc Ock arms were keeping him stationed to the ground, as two more burst out of his back, grabbing the spears in the middle before shaking the two members back and forth, who tried to hold onto the spear with all their might but alas, his strength proved superior as both of them were thrown to the ground, as he took the two liberated Vibranium spears before jabbing them deep into the ground.
The sight of his five legs, with two of them hovering menacingly around him must have brought pause to them as he leaned forward and spoke, "Come."
Clearly, that was the wrong thing to say because the provocation was all these guys needed to suppress any survival instincts they might have had and just jump forward to their defeat. The sight of over 20 people barreling forward with spears was not intimidating at all, not in the slightest, to him at least.
For normal people or even super soldiers, it would present a bit of a workout, but for him? All he needed was to conjure another pair of arms before he had over a dozen Vibranium spears lined up nicely in front of him, all buried halfway to the ground, with over a dozen members groaning and rolling around in pain, scattered around his position, as he flung them by employing the same strategy as he did for the first two members.
The other 8 or so people had finally regained use of their brains along with what little survival instincts they had, and were now fearfully staring up at him, with their shields drawn, bright blue energy shields on display for anyone to see.
Well, he would not fault them for that, as he looked up, Jin'Ya promptly alerting him about 3 ships getting out of the shield, heading straight towards them. He was sure that he would not be able to hear Wakanda's ships, stealthy as they might be but if he was given time, and a couple of years of practice with the Astral Spirit and all the associated spells, he could cast a spell that located all the souls in the vicinity, allowing him to bypass any and all measures of stealth that could hide any humans.
The awake members clearly heard their orders as they relaxed and backed away from him, as he floated there, conjured arms crossed, with knocked out people and buried Vibranium spears in front of him.
Jin'Ya continuously projected their current location to him, which is how he knew where to look, constantly looking at the ship which had Shuri inside, the strongest soul that Jin'Ya could sense.
That was how he was able to catch the small hatch opening up, and Shuri, clad in black, dropping down from the sky, landing silently on the ground, despite sustaining a 50-foot drop. It was impressive, even for a super soldier, if she hadn't cheated and used Vibranium, which was almost a given.
The four conjured arms dispelled, he bowed at the slowly approaching woman, with the three arms slowly lowering himself to her level, "Greetings, Queen Shuri."
"So," She began, armour sliding back to reveal her face, "I assume you survived that day,"
Before he could say anything else, her gaze slid to his conjured arms before continuing, "but not without consequences."
"There are consequences to every action, Queen Shuri."
"Hmm," She said before turning around, "try and keep up,"
He was a second late, as Shuri rocketed through the air, boosters forming on the back of her legs as she broke the sound barrier within seconds. He grinned, as he jumped and a massive shockwave propelled him forward, further disturbing the already knocked out people.
