Rico POV:
"We keep moving forward," I shouted to Marco, who was already flanking with two others. "Clear the entrance, take down any reinforcements, and secure the path!"
Another burst of gunfire rang out, but it was drowned by the growl of my own fury building in my chest. I was close. We were close.
I dove out of cover, sprinting toward the breach. The sounds of gunfire and shouting were like a drumbeat, urging me onward. My heart pounded in my ears as I counted the seconds, each more urgent than the last.
One of my men went down—caught off guard.
"Shit!" Marco shouted, his voice full of panic. "Get him out of the line of fire! Now!"
I didn't wait. We had to move. We couldn't afford to lose anyone else.
Rounding the corner, I spotted the first group of incoming enemy soldiers. They were making their way into the back entrance, guns raised, but they froze the moment they saw me. My eyes narrowed. They had no idea who they were dealing with.
"Cover me!" I barked to Marco.
