Chapter 457 - Chapter 457: Are You Ready to Be Freed?

The hillside was barren, with only a thin layer of snow covering it in the distance.

It looked completely ordinary, with neither scenery nor anything distinctive about it.

Almost no one would bother stopping for such an unremarkable little hill.

Of course, to prevent the Senior from eventually losing control and exploding, her friends had carefully selected this location years ago, ensuring that there would be no human settlements within several hundred kilometres.

"Is it here?"

Standing on the hillside, Dumbledore looked at the empty slope before him.

"Yes..." Ms Paris reached out and gently swept her hand forward.

It was as though she had pulled aside a curtain.

A garden suddenly appeared on the previously barren hillside, and in the centre of it stood a small stone house built from white stone.

After so many years of wind and weather, however, the once pure-white stone had faded considerably, and patches of green moss had even begun growing across it.

Wade and the other two walked inside and immediately discovered that it was much warmer here than outside. Walking among the flowers felt almost like stepping back into spring.

Dumbledore suddenly noticed that the garden surrounding the stone house looked remarkably similar to the garden in the Senior's dreams.

Only where the pavilion had once stood, there was now a stone house.

"Wade! You're finally here!"

Lucifer suddenly darted out from somewhere.

"I can't stand staying here another second! That woman is terrifying!"

Ever since the Senior had nearly extinguished him by force that night, Lucifer had been filled with fear of her.

So even though the Senior had not appeared again, he had remained constantly on edge.

"Why are you out here? Get back to your position," Wade said with a frown.

"That's only fire split off from my body. Even if I'm here with you, I can instantly..."

Lucifer's voice gradually faded as he realised Wade was narrowing his eyes at him.

"You idiot! Now that you've come out, what use are those preparations?"

A trap was only a trap because it could catch someone who knew nothing about it.

But now that Lucifer had appeared, it was enough to reveal that one of the traps was centred around Gubraithian Fire.

For a wizard as powerful as the Senior, a trap that had already been exposed was effectively useless.

"But that woman never came out to look..." Lucifer said aggrievedly.

Wade ignored him and walked toward the stone house.

As Dumbledore passed, he gave Lucifer an interested look, but did not think much of it. He simply assumed it was another little puppet like the lantern monster.

When Ms Paris passed by, she smiled at Lucifer, who was standing there sulkily and poking his fingers together.

"Wade isn't wrong. You really are a little fool."

Lucifer looked indignant.

Who are you supposed to be? Wade is my master, so fine, he can call me that. Why are you saying it too?

As a newly born magical flame, he naturally did not understand what Ms Paris meant.

Because Wade's precautions were not aimed solely at the Senior.

They were also aimed at her close friend, Ms Paris.

Wade was annoyed because Lucifer had exposed himself in front of Ms Paris.

Still, Wade was not too worried, because he had prepared many safeguards.

In fact, Dumbledore was also one of Wade's contingencies, working in coordination with Slytherin, who was hidden nearby.

If something truly went wrong, then apart from activating the traps, the two of them could also intervene immediately.

"Are you ready?" Ms Paris asked gently.

"Give me a moment. I'll begin soon..."

Wade took a deep breath, then handed the Elder Wand to Dumbledore.

After that, he took out his own beech wand and quietly began murmuring a complex series of incantations.

Dumbledore and Ms Paris could both clearly sense strange waves of magic flowing toward Wade's head.

When the incantation ended, Wade handed the beech wand to Dumbledore as well.

"What are you..."

"I don't know whether I'll lose control after absorbing the 'residue.' I think I'll be easier to deal with if I don't have a wand," Wade said seriously.

Remembering what had happened before, Dumbledore immediately understood.

"Leave them with me."

The last time Wade had absorbed "residue" from an Obscurial and gone berserk, he had only been pretending.

But this time, the amount he intended to absorb was far greater than before.

So even Wade was uncertain whether he would be able to control himself.

That was why he had placed seven restraints within his own mind, hoping they would help him remain rational at the critical moment.

Handing his wands to Dumbledore was another precaution. If Wade ultimately failed to control himself, Dumbledore would be able to subdue him more easily while he was unarmed.

Of course, that was the outcome Wade least wanted to see, because it would mean he had failed.

Wade turned toward the stone house, then took Ravenclaw's Diadem from his pocket and placed it on his head.

The moment he put it on, the magic of Ravenclaw's Diadem made his mind even clearer.

Finally, Wade took out a bottle of Felix Felicis.

The sheer extent of Wade's preparations made even Dumbledore's eyelids twitch.

At last, Wade placed his hand against the stone chamber door.

"I'm ready. Are you?"

Wade waited for quite a while, but the stone house in front of him remained completely still.

"Hm?"

Wade paused, then understood.

The Senior had withdrawn all her senses, so she could not hear anything he said from outside.

Wade had no choice but to extend a finger.

As his fingertip touched the stone door, a wisp of white mist slipped through the crack.

Once the mist disappeared inside, only a short while passed before the entire stone chamber suddenly began shaking violently.

Rumble...

The entire garden trembled along with the stone chamber.

Poof...

The stone house suddenly dissolved into white grains of sand, rapidly collapsing like a castle built from loose earth.

As the stone house disappeared, a transparent crystal coffin was revealed before them.

The Senior lay quietly inside.

Unlike before, however, the Senior lying in the crystal coffin now had her eyes open.

Clearly, after being separated from her body for so many years, her soul had finally returned to it.

Although this body belonged to another version of herself from a parallel world, it could still be considered her body.

There was no helping it. She did not exactly have another choice.

Wade slowly walked to the crystal coffin and looked down at the Senior inside.

She stared straight back at him, her eyes filled with longing for freedom.

Wade reached into his pocket and gripped the Hogyoku, which had undergone further improvements.

Then he placed his other hand on the crystal coffin.

"Let's begin."

Swish!

The moment he finished speaking, the lid of the crystal coffin dissolved into ice crystals and vanished.

Wade reached out, grabbed the cloak covering the Senior, and tore it away.

Rip!

Boom!

In an instant, thick black mist surged outward.

"Arrrrrrrrrrrgggg!!!!!!!!!"

A terrifying scream came out.
