Brook looked at Luffy, who stood before him with a big grin. "So, you must be the capitan of this group. Two assassins, a cook, a nagivator, and a sowrdsmen. You don't have a shipwright. It would be wiser to have someone to fix your ship before you invite me to join your crew, young pirate."
Luffy looked at him. "I know, but I would like to have you on my crew all the same. So what do you say? You can officially meet everyone, including my nephew."
Brook tilted his head. "Nephew, you say?"
Luffy nodded. "Yeah. Kat and Zoro's 4-day-old son. Henry. He's a heavy sleeper like his father. It's really cute to watch him sleep."
Nami and Sanji looked at him in confusion. Did they hear him right? He wants the person who scares Henry to become his nanny?
Nami smacked Luffy upside the head. "ARE YOU INSANE?! WHY WOULD YOU WANT A SEKELTON TO BECOME HENRY'S NANNY? DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW TERRIBLE THIS WOULD GO OVER WITH BOTH KAT AND ZORO?! THEY WOULD MURDER YOU."
Luffy looked at her. "I never said anything about being Henry's nanny. I just think it would be fun to have him around, that's all." He turned back to Brook. "So what do you say?"
Brook shook his head. "I appreciate it, you pirate, but I must decline."
"Well, at least meet everyone so that they can see you. I don't want them to think that I'm crazy."
Sanji blinked. "We already think you're crazy, Luffy."
Back on the ship, I looked at Chopper. "What's taking them so long? They don't normally take this long to talk to a dead man. I mean, what could they possibly be talking about?"
Chopper looked at me while making sure that I kept up on taking my meds. "I don't know. But you have to remember that Luffy is very persistent." He handed me a glass of water. "I wouldn't worry about it."
I nodded. "You're right. I guess I'm worrying about nothing."
Zoro came into the office holding Henry. He smiled and sat next to me. "Hey, Momma, how are you holding up? Someone wanted to see you."
I smiled and brushed his hair out of his face. "I'm doing alright. Chopper's making sure that I take my meds." I kissed Zoro's cheek. "I figured you'd be working out." I playfully ran a hand over the hilt of his swords. "My sexy swordsman."
Zoro chuckled. "Easy now, Pretty Kitty. I can work out anytime."
Henry sneezed and yawned at the same time before falling asleep on his father's lap.
I chuckled and took him from Zoro before bringing him into the bedroom, placing him in his crib. "Having a good nap, my little man." I closed the door just in time for Luffy, Nami, and Sanji reboraded the ship.
Usopp walked over to Luffy once he was back on deck. "What took you three so long? We're starting to get worried about you guys."
Luffy looked at him. "We were unable to convince him to join our crew. However, I'm not gonna give up that easily. I'm willing to let the matter go for now, but I'm determined to have Brook on the ship. By the way, where's Henry?"
I smiled. "I just put him down for his nap. You'll see him when he wakes up."
Luffy nodded and sank to the floor. "I'm hungry."
Sanji rolled his eyes. "Of course you are, Luffy. But now that you mention it, it is time to make lunch. What are all feeling?"
"I want meat." Luffy smiled.
Sanji nodded. "Sandwiches it is. I'll make soup and salad with them as well."
Luffy smiled. "I want meat sandwiches."
Sanji chuckled. "All you think about is meat. Try to have some protein in your diet."
A few hours later, the crew was joined by Brook, who wanted to join us for lunch. I guess you could say he was lonely for all those years without people to talk to. He knocked on the door to the mess hall, wishing to join us.
Sanji smiled. "Looks like you wanted to join us for lunch. I have plenty of food. Just let me know what you like on your sandwich."
Brook chuckled. "I'm not picky. I hear you're the chef."
Sanji nodded. "Yeah, I hear that a lot. So why not join the crew, and you can have my food anytime you want."
"I still need time to think about your capitan's generous offer. I have wandered in this graveyard that's become my home. I don't have a shadow, so I can't go into the light." He paused. "I seemed to have had it stolen."
Usopp looked up at Brook. "What do you mean you had it stolen? Everyone has a shadow."
And so Brook decided to tell everyone his backstory and why he doesn't have a shadow. Or rather, he currently doesn't have one.
