Inside the secret chamber.
The atmosphere was utterly silent.
Wei Yang and Xiao Yan both gazed at the elderly figure within the green flames, whose eyes remained tightly shut.
The temperature of the flame slowly began to drop.
After carefully probing for a while and finding no abnormalities or unexpected changes, they both finally let out a faint sigh of relief. The physical body had already been successfully forged. From this point on, the rest no longer depended on them.
As long as Yao Lao could perfectly merge with the new body, there would be no more problems. Wei Yang closed his eyes slightly and began circulating his cultivation technique to restore himself.
Nearly ten days of nonstop body forging had been exhausting, both mentally and spiritually. After all, the materials used were far too precious—he hadn't dared to relax for even a single breath.
"Master, the rest will depend on you now…" Xiao Yan muttered softly.
"Don't worry, it shouldn't be an issue." Wei Yang replied calmly. He was confident enough in that.
After all, the body this time had been refined using the Death Life Flame, which possessed the unique attribute of the Life Spirit Flame. With such a flame of life protecting him, even if Yao Lao wanted to die, it wouldn't be easy.
"Mm." Xiao Yan nodded quietly. Thinking of the wondrous nature of the Life Spirit Flame, the tension in his heart gradually eased. Wei Yang no longer spoke, immersing his mind as he replayed the entire body-forging process in his mind.
That process had been anything but easy. He had needed to transform the properties of the Death Life Flame, forcing it to mimic the effects of three different types of Heavenly Flames—Thunder, Yang Flame, and Life Flame.
Of course, through this, he had also gained much insight.
To forge a nearly perfect body using both destruction and life, and to personally witness the entire process of white bones giving birth to flesh this deepened his understanding of the balance between destruction and creation.
Beside him, Xiao Yan also slowly closed his eyes and entered cultivation, patiently waiting. As both men sank into meditation, the chamber once again fell into complete silence.
Only the gentle sound of the green flames burning—like the murmur of flowing water—echoed rhythmically within the chamber.
In this stillness, another seven days quietly passed.
At one moment, Wei Yang's half-closed eyes slowly opened.
Whoosh~
He exhaled a long breath of turbid air, and in his eyes, a faint glimmer flashed briefly carrying within it the essence of both destruction and creation. Beside him, Xiao Yan sensed the movement and opened his eyes as well.
He caught that fleeting trace within Wei Yang's gaze and was momentarily stunned, before smiling. "Congratulations, Brother Wei. Seems like you've gained new insight."
"There is indeed a small realization." Wei Yang smiled, then shook his head, "But I'm still far from truly grasping it."
"Take your time," Xiao Yan chuckled, "Having a good beginning is already something. What people fear most is having no direction, isn't it?"
"Indeed." Wei Yang nodded lightly.
Direction—
Finding the direction to move forward was indeed the most important thing. Once you found the path, the road and the goal would naturally appear. All that remained was to keep walking.
The two turned their gazes toward the stone platform before them. Yao Lao still sat there with his eyes closed, showing no signs of waking.
"It seems the body we forged this time is far too powerful. Even with Master's strength, it's not easy to fully control it," Xiao Yan murmured thoughtfully.
"That's a good thing," Wei Yang replied.
"Indeed," Xiao Yan smiled.
Although Yao Lao seemed motionless, both of them, with their keen senses, could faintly feel it within that still and elderly body, a terrifying aura was brewing, gradually stirring, as though about to awaken.
Clearly, everything was proceeding smoothly. Seeing this, Wei Yang waved his hand and withdrew the green flame.
"Brother Wei?" Xiao Yan asked in surprise.
"Yao Lao has already gained control of his body," Wei Yang explained. "The flame is no longer needed. At this stage, he's likely preparing for a breakthrough. If we keep burning him now, it could actually hinder him."
"Oh? So, it's already starting?" Xiao Yan's face lit up with joy.
"You still lack a bit of perception," Wei Yang teased lightly but then, his eyes suddenly froze, and his words stopped mid-sentence.
"Hmm?"
Xiao Yan also sensed something, and his expression changed.
Woo~ Woo~
Within the secret chamber, the air suddenly began to stir, accompanied by a low, whistling wind that echoed eerily. Unknowingly, the surrounding Heaven and Earth Energy had begun to ripple and flow, gathering toward the elderly figure seated on the stone platform.
"It's coming!"
Wei Yang and Xiao Yan's eyes lit up instantly.
Their soul perceptions spread outward—and what they discovered left them both stunned. The Heaven and Earth Energy within the entire area was surging madly toward their location, converging above the chamber into a vast, swirling vortex of multicolored energy.
The vortex spun slowly, its bottom forming a funnel shape that gradually inverted downward. The very tip of that inverted cone was precisely where the secret chamber lay.
Such a phenomenon instantly alarmed everyone within the mansion. Figures flickered one after another, quickly darting into the sky.
"This kind of commotion… could it be a breakthrough?" Feng Zun Zhe exclaimed in shock.
"Seems like it." Tian Huo Zun Zhe nodded.
Their gazes lifted skyward. That multicolored energy vortex spun faster and faster, its size growing rapidly as well.
A strange suction force spread out, devouring the surrounding Heaven and Earth Energy like a whale swallowing river. Judging by the momentum, it looked as though it might drain all the energy in the entire Holy Pill City.
Within the mansion, the skies dimmed, winds howled, and dust billowed everywhere. The massive, inverted energy vortex hung above, shrouding most of the mansion's sky. The space barrier covering the mansion began to distort violently under the pull of that terrifying suction.
"Ah Da, stabilize the barrier immediately." Wei Yang's voice echoed from inside the secret chamber.
"Yes." A black shadow shot out from somewhere within the mansion, soaring into the sky above the courtyard. With a wave of his hand, dense spatial power rippled outward, gradually stabilizing the fluctuating barrier.
"Du Jiao, Xiong Zhan—you two guard outside the mansion. If anyone dares to spy, drive them off or kill them!" Wei Yang's voice sounded once again from within the chamber.
"Yes!"
Two towering figures, Du Jiao and Xiong Zhan, shot out of the mansion, taking positions on opposite sides in the sky, standing guard with unyielding auras.
Seeing this, both Feng Zun Zhe and Tian Huo Zun Zhe also flew toward the edge of the barrier. While helping to stabilize it, they stayed alert to the situation outside.
Inside the secret chamber—
Wei Yang reached out and pulled over a jade jar, removed its lid, and flicked his finger. A milky-white, jelly-like bone marrow shot out with a sharp whizzing sound and flew straight into Yao Lao's mouth.
Yao Lao, whose mind was completely immersed in his breakthrough, instinctively closed his mouth and swallowed.
As soon as that gelatinous bone marrow entered his throat, it instantly transformed into a vast, ocean-like surge of pure energy that poured straight down into his abdomen.
"Yao Lao, just focus on refining the marrow energy within your body. You don't need to waste your mind on the chaotic energies outside," Wei Yang said softly. "Don't worry—the energy should be more than enough."
Yao Lao's brow twitched slightly. He didn't open his eyes but gave a faint nod.
At this moment, his consciousness was completely immersed in breaking through and refining the marrow energy, unable to spare even a shred of focus elsewhere. His body was like a bottomless abyss—no matter how much energy poured in, it devoured everything in an instant.
Not long after, that single marrow, which contained enough pure energy that even Wei Yang would need two or three days to fully absorb, was nearly completely consumed by Yao Lao in less than ten minutes.
Aside from the Dou Sheng's skeletal remains being unimaginably strong, the flesh and meridians formed from the Heaven Demon Phoenix's blood essence were especially compatible with the energy extracted from the Ancient Heavenly Phoenix Bone Marrow.
The two resonated and complemented each other perfectly.
"Incredible."
Seeing this, Wei Yang's eyebrows lifted slightly. He flicked his fingers again, sending another marrow into Yao Lao's mouth.
Hmm?
Just as he completed the motion, Wei Yang's brows suddenly furrowed. He turned his head sharply, his gaze piercing through the walls of the secret chamber toward a point in the distant void outside the mansion.
"Brother Wei, is someone spying from outside?" Xiao Yan asked quickly.
"Mm. Yao Lao's breakthrough has caused too great a commotion. Even with the spatial barrier, it couldn't be completely concealed. And now, it seems we've attracted a few little hounds from the Hall of Souls."
Wei Yang nodded, letting out a cold snort. He shoved the jade jar into Xiao Yan's hands and rose to his feet.
"You stay here and watch. I'll go suppress them."
"Alright, be careful," Xiao Yan replied with a nod.
"Don't worry, just a few little hounds—and besides, this is the Holy Pill City." Wei Yang flicked his sleeve, turned around, and in a flash, appeared at the chamber's stone door. He stretched out a hand and pushed.
Rumble—
The massive stone door slowly opened, and Wei Yang stepped out. With a casual wave of his sleeve—behind him, the heavy chamber door rumbled shut once again.
