Unable to face the glaring lights above me, my eyes refused to open.
My body felt weak as if I had run a marathon, my legs burned, and my arms hurt.
Maddie...
Madeline...
Dear, are you awake?
Madeline....
I could hear distant, familiar voices, calling out my name. I wanted to speak, but my throat tightened, my mouth refusing to open.
I was conscious, but my body refused to move.
Panic hit me, my heart racing like it refused to give up on living, and I was able to open my eyes, face the light again.
As my vision adjusted to the light, I turned my face, and my heart finally calmed down.
There he was.
Liam.
His blue eyes were watery, yet his lips were curled up, as if he was glad, as if all the worries he had were now washed away.
He stretched his hands forward, trembling, as his warm hands touched my face. I couldn't hold back the rush of tears that hit me.
And Liam didn't waste anytime pulling me into a devastatingly tight hug.
