Chapter 286 - Amagi Brilliant Park Part 1

After enjoying their pizza, Ren and Ichika spent about an hour leisurely strolling around the Shinjuku area.

The fresh afternoon air, though mixed with the scent of the metropolitan city, felt refreshing.

They walked along the bustling sidewalk, passing various shops and shopping centers without a clear destination. Light conversation flowed between them, touching on the scenery or trivial matters.

Their steps were unhurried, giving their stomachs time to comfortably digest lunch.

Midway, they even stopped at a small park to sit and relax, enjoying the atmosphere and watching people pass by.

The time spent together felt pleasant and calming for Ichika, while for Ren, it was an opportunity to observe his sister-in-law more closely.

"Hey, Ren-kun, want to go to Amagi Brilliant Park? I heard that amusement park has become really popular lately. It was nearly shut down due to low attendance and poor management, but in just a few months under new management, Amagi Brilliant Park has returned to its glory days."

Now, Ichika was no longer wearing her cap, glasses, or mask. Her beautiful face, usually the center of attention, was freely exposed under the sunlight.

Oddly, not a single passerby glanced at her or showed any signs of recognition.

People walked by as if Ichika were just an ordinary woman with an average face, not worth a second look.

This "miracle" stemmed from a casual complaint Ichika had made earlier, asking if Ren had a way to spare her the hassle of disguising herself. Unexpectedly, Ren agreed to help.

Using the Book of Knowledge Divine Authority—which granted access to all the world's knowledge and could provide solutions to any problem—Ren found a simple yet effective perception-blurring spell.

The spell made anyone looking at Ichika see her as a woman with an average appearance.

"It's only 2 PM. Doesn't Ichika-san have work? Aren't you supposed to be busy?" Ren asked casually.

"Don't worry, I finished all my work to have free time today." Ichika replied, waving her hand to seem relaxed, though she had actually pushed herself to clear her schedule.

"If you say so, I don't mind."

"Really? Then let's go!"

With a new destination set, Ren and Ichika decided to take a taxi to Amagi Brilliant Park.

It's worth noting that taxi fares in Japan are notoriously among the most expensive in the world, leading most locals to prefer public transportation like trains or buses.

However, for a Campione like Ren, with his immense wealth, and a top actress like Ichika, with her substantial earnings, taxi fares were mere pocket change not worth worrying about.

As mentioned earlier, it was the weekend, so Amagi Brilliant Park was packed with visitors from all walks of life, from families with children to couples on dates.

Amagi Brilliant Park was built with the conceptual theme of a magical fairy kingdom called Maple Land, creating an imaginative and delightful atmosphere.

Ren and Ichika had to queue for about ten minutes to buy entry tickets due to the long line, but the cheerful atmosphere around them made the time pass quickly.

"Wow, it's so crowded…" Ichika exclaimed in awe as they passed through the main gate, her eyes sparkling at the colorful rides and decorations.

"Want to take a picture with that mascot, Ren-kun?"

She pointed at a brown mouse mascot with a green hat and red ribbon, happily handing out balloons to children and posing for photos with visitors.

"I'm not a kid anymore, Ichika-san." Ren replied, shaking his head. "By the way, there's no one inside that costume."

"Huh? What do you mean, Ren-kun?" Ichika looked confused.

"Literally. They're using transformation magic. In short, there's no person inside the mascot because the mascot itself is the person." Ren explained with keen interest.

"Ugh…" Ichika's face paled slightly. "After hearing that, the mascot doesn't seem cute anymore—it's kind of creepy. Wait! Why is there something so weird in this amusement park?"

She now hid behind Ren, peeking warily at Moffle—the mascot's name—with a cautious gaze.

"The answer's simple. Amagi Brilliant Park isn't an ordinary amusement park. Most of its staff come from another world."

"Seriously?" Ichika looked at Ren skeptically. "You're not teasing Onee-san for fun, right?"

Though she knew the world was more complex than it seemed, the concept of another world and otherworldly beings still sounded too fantastical for her.

"Believe it or not, it's up to you, Ichika-san." Ren said with a shrug.

(I wonder if I could visit the world these Amagi Brilliant Park folks come from?)

As a Campione thirsting for challenges and new knowledge, the possibility of exploring another world was incredibly tempting.

No longer dwelling on the secrets of Amagi Brilliant Park, Ichika eagerly tugged at Ren's arm.

"Come on, Ren-kun! We're definitely trying that roller coaster first!"

She pointed at a massive ride with a twisting, steeply plunging track, its entrance gleaming with the words Heart-Stopping Coaster.

Ren merely nodded. "Alright, if that's what Ichika-san wants."

They queued, and soon they were in the front row.

"AAAHHHH—"

As the coaster surged forward, climbing slowly before plunging at high speed, the air was filled with the excited and panicked screams of the riders.

Beside Ren, Ichika shrieked hysterically, her hands gripping the safety bar tightly, her face a mix of fear and exhilaration.

"WAAAAAAAH! REN-KUUUUN!" she screamed, pressing her body against Ren's side.

Meanwhile, Ren sat calmly, his expression barely changing. His hands didn't even touch the safety bar.

For him, the thrill of the roller coaster was nothing compared to the lightning speed he could achieve with his Solar Flash Divine Authority. His body, accustomed to far more extreme G-forces, found this ride like a slow, boring motion.

"…"

"Not scary?" Ichika asked after the ride stopped, still catching her breath. Her cheeks were flushed from the adrenaline.

"It was alright." Ren replied briefly, helping Ichika down as her legs still trembled slightly.

"You're… so strong you can't even enjoy simple things, huh?" Ichika teased, giving his shoulder a light nudge.

Ren gave a faint smile. "Maybe."

"…"

The next attraction they visited was Moffle's Candy House, a large fairy-style house made of imitation candies in bright colors.

The sign explained: "Welcome to Moffle's House, the candy fairy and Amaburi's star mascot! Enjoy his sweets that fill your heart with hope and dreams. Help Moffle drive out the gang of mice invading his kitchen!"

Inside, they were given water guns. The goal was to shoot at randomly appearing mouse-shaped targets in various corners of Moffle's candy-themed kitchen. Each hit earned points.

"Yosh! I'm definitely beating you this time, Ren-kun!" Ichika challenged enthusiastically, holding her water gun confidently.

"Go ahead and try." Ren replied nonchalantly, picking up his water gun.

As the game began, small mouse targets popped up from behind cookie jars, on tables, and under chairs. Ichika eagerly shot in all directions but missed many.

"Ugh! That one got away! That one's too fast!"

Meanwhile, Ren stood calmly. His eyes tracked every movement. His hand moved swiftly and precisely.

*SQUIRT!* *SQUIRT!* *SQUIRT!*

Every shot hit its mark perfectly, without a single miss. He didn't even need to move from his spot.

"Hey, that's not fair! You're like a shooting machine!" Ichika protested, laughing as she saw Ren's score skyrocket.

"Just focus on your targets, Ichika-san." Ren said without looking away.

"…"

By the end of the game, Ren's score broke the day's highest record. The staff member playing Moffle—actually a Maple Land creature using transformation magic—approached them.

"Congratulations, sir! You're the best shooter I've seen today!" Moffle said in his distinctive voice. "May we take a photo together as a memento?"

"Sure." Ren replied casually.

Still curious from Ren's earlier explanation, Ichika eyed Moffle cautiously. "Ren-kun, is he… really…?"

Ren gave an almost imperceptible nod. "Yes."

Moffle, overhearing their conversation, blinked without fully understanding.

They took a photo together, with Ichika still looking slightly wary and Ren remaining relaxed. After the photo, Ichika pulled Ren aside.

"It's kind of creepy when you think about it… But he seems nice." she whispered.

"Appearances can be deceiving, but in this case, they don't mean any harm. They just want this amusement park to succeed." Ren explained vaguely.

"You know so much, Ren-kun." Ichika said, looking at him with awe and a touch of confusion.

"There are many secrets in this world, Ichika-san. Not all of them need to be known." Ren replied mysteriously, ending the conversation as he pointed to the next ride. "Want to keep going?"
