Inside Edwood's old apartment, after Silas's mother's unexpected visit, Micah looked at Darcy for a second and blurted out, "Let's get you moved out of here!"
Darcy's eyes widened, caught off guard.
Noticing the surprise in Darcy's eyes, Micah tried to soften the urgency in his tone and make it sound more reasonable, less like an impulsive decision. "I'm just worried they'll come back," he said, running a hand through his sweat-dampened silver hair. "Or worse, do something shady. What if you are not home and they harass your mother and Nora? What then?"
Darcy's expression faltered. He looked away, his lips pressed into a thin line. His long eyelashes fluttered, blinking rapidly.
Micah saw the hesitation and jumped in before the silence stretched. "Is it because of the money? I can lend you some. Don't worry about it. You can write me an IOU if it makes you feel better." He added in a rush.
