It was only when he sneaked into the toilets, locking himself in one of the cubicles, that Axel finally dared to check his messages. Back in the car, with Nasir right next to him, he had been afraid that the Omega might catch a glimpse of his screen and learn something he shouldn't.
…If he didn't know it already, that is. Could it be a coincidence that Nasir showed up in River's coffee shop? If it were only that, then perhaps, but considering his behavior… Nasir had never called him 'darling', and never clung to him like that. It wasn't his style, it was improper and elegant, and he swiftly abandoned this new persona of his as soon as the coffee shop disappeared behind them.
All of which suggested that it was a show, to which River was supposed to be a spectator. And what reason could there be other than driving a wedge between Axel and his partner, so that the deal Axel had with his mother would be less likely to succeed?
