His voice dropped even lower. "We've locked down her attempt to flee the country. There's no way she can leave without us knowing."
Heather stayed silent for a long moment. The shock felt heavy in her chest. Trish had gone to all this trouble… over her reputation. And yet, she had in fact killed Sebastian.
"I promise you," Adams said steadily, "we will catch her. But I do need your consent for one thing."
Heather nodded faintly.
"How do you want to handle it? Do you want her locked behind bars… or erased?"
Heather froze. The question was heavier than it sounded. He was asking if she wanted Trish dead.
Is this how Caius solved his problems? she thought. Quietly removing people?
"Your wish is my command," Adams added.
Heather shook her head. She didn't want Trish dead. She could not live with the guilt of taking a life — no matter what had been done to her.
"Just make sure she doesn't have someone save her from life imprisonment," Heather said finally, standing from her seat.
