Chapter 5 - CONNECTION

SOMEWHERE UNKNOWN:

Unseen

Tremor

Powerful

He felt it, the delicate brush of a soul against his prison, like the first inhale of air after drowning.

In the darkest corner of the throne room, a figure stirred, cloaked in shadows that seemed alive. This kingdom had a darkened throne, cold, empty and waiting.

What was this feeling, it was foreign and the more of its depth was to set even more fire, but why now. It's been centuries and even the feelings were beyond to feel at this point but right now it's different.

It began like a whisper, a sound so faint that even the winds seemed to shudder as it passed. The flames had faltered, they had deemed the embers and for the first time since time began, a hush fell over the infernal realm. The molten rivers, restless and ever-flowing, slowed. The eerie glow turned cold, flickering as if the hand had smothered the fire.

The ring had been touched

The ancient chain had begun to lose and someone waited with a smile like sin itself.

A slow, wicked smile curved his lips, sharp enough to cut. His fingers, long and elegant, twitched as if itching to hold something or someone. His entire being hummed with recognition but not yet that known to the eyes.

"The bridge" he whispered, his voice a dark caress that echoed into the void "it's been touched" he mused, but behind his amusement lurked something darker. The hunger, the yearning.

And yet .... dark twisted curiosity coiled within him.

"It feels different, did you finally find 'the one' " someone beside him in the same cloak yet different in some way spoke in a hushed whisper somehow unsure to ask about something that had been buried so deep for so long

"It's just a touch, but so strong to stir so many emotions what will happen if it takes the whole control I can literally taste it's power on my tongue" there was a spark of interest, a flicker of desire, dark and forbidden. His underling only nodded and knew when not to ask unnecessary questions even if he had a bunch of them.

But was this a warning or a promise, the vision was quite unclear but so many possibilities or maybe even exciting, he's been waiting but now not any longer.

"Oh and it's half moon did I tell you that?" his underling says with a bored look making him roll his eyes "you speak like am fucking blind or something" he scoffed while fixing his cloak, "it has come with good news guess things will have to change around here" he says confidently going back to his throne while the other only sighs like he's been hearing this story for quite a while now "he's at it again" he shakes his head but quickly composes himself feeling holes drilled behind his back.

Later that same night as Luca had drifted off to sleep in his cluttered room, he failed to notice the glow from the ring that had washed over his hand wherever it hung limply over the side of the bed as the moon, full and radiant watched above like an unblinking eye.

But Luca? He lay unmoving, for once his restless mind had given away to the weight of exhaustion while he slept soundly, his dark lashes rested against his cheeks, breathing in a peaceful rhythm.

What Luca earlier didn't realize how even the rain wasn't foreseen. The clouds had just darkened unnaturally or how the leaves rustled in whispers that didn't match the wind, he was oblivious to the fact that the first ripple of something extraordinary had just begun

Just an instant of time the full moon at 100% illumination was gone and then Luca was groaning on his bed, his head hitting the pillow from side to side and like he was in pain or something.

"No....don't....." he was panting fisting on his bedsheets, his legs sprawled on the bed thrashed once then twice, his body jerking violently as if fighting unseen hands pulling him under.

"Uh...." a low strangled moan filled the room as his brows furrowed sweat beading along his forehead chest heaved with labored breathes, each one heavier than the last.

"You'll come to me soon"

With a jolt, his eyes snapped open, wide and wild, his heart hammering against his ribs like a caged animal. He sat upright gasping for air, while he looked around. A sigh of relief left his mouth as he realized where he was, the room was dark, the night still but something had changed.

He woke up immediately to get a quick shower and get out of his sweat wet clothes that felt disgustingly clinging to him like a second skin, he hates that.

"Better" he sighed while getting out of the bathroom and drying his hair with a towel and his eyes fell on the ring he picked up earlier, he almost forgot about it. But again the dream he had, he couldn't help but think about it, it was scary in a type of way "what was it again?" he dug in his memories but he forgot it not even a hint but the adrenaline rush was there he could vividly remember it, seeming to get nothing he shrugged it off while he sat on his small table and chair taking his books out he knew sleep wouldn't be even close at this time so he does what he usually does when he lacks sleep, study.

Looking at his books he had a lot to do thanks to that idiot Sam who tore all of his work and now he needs to make another one, it was the damn assignment that probably needs to be handed over first thing in the morning. He could feel anger trying to claw its way out as he was reminded of Sam, that son of a bi-, even his inner self was taunting him to say that to his face but he knew he wouldn't even try, now all that is left is to study.
