After the Straw Hat crew defeated the Marine squads, Whitebeard led his men and charged forward. He took the lead himself, and no one could stop him. It didn't take long for the Straw Hats to be within a short distance of him.
Carl, who had been busy with Vice Admiral Gion and Vice Admiral Tokikake, saw Admiral Akainu and Admiral Aokiji rushing toward Whitebeard. He was speechless at Whitebeard's recklessness. I guess the old man forgot his age. The young guys are supposed to be the ones leading the way!
"Hey! Uncle Whitebeard, take it easy! Two Admirals are coming for you. Don't be so reckless just because you're old. If you go in there and get killed, everyone's going to be at your funeral. Ace will think he's the reason you died, and he'll never be able to live with himself!"
Carl's words echoed in everyone's ears. Whitebeard paused, looking back at Carl with a surprised look. Carl's words were true. Whitebeard had planned to sacrifice himself on this battlefield, but Carl's words made him hesitate. If I really die here, would Ace feel guilty and lose his will to live? The answer was yes; Whitebeard knew his son well.
On the execution platform, Ace came to his senses and shouted, "Dad! Carl's right! If anything happens to you, I'll die!"
Marco and Jozu took the chance and rushed in front of Whitebeard. "Pops! This is a job for your sons. You should stay behind!"
Whitebeard felt helpless and let Marco and Jozu lead the way. However, Akainu and Aokiji were already at the front. They ignored Marco and Jozu and charged straight at Whitebeard.
"Hey, hey, are you looking down on us?" Marco said, kicking at Aokiji.
"None of you are getting close to Pops!" Jozu said as he turned into a shining diamond and rushed toward Akainu.
Aokiji and Akainu exchanged a glance, an unspoken agreement passing between them. Aokiji threw two Ice Pheasant attacks, forcing Marco and Jozu to fall back. Akainu took the opportunity to charge at Whitebeard, a giant fist of magma heading for his stomach.
Clang! A black longsword crossed and successfully blocked Akainu's fist.
"Carl, you bastard! You're messing with me again! I'm going to kill you today!" Akainu yelled.
"Hey, that depends on whether you're strong enough," Carl said with a smile, drawing his other sword, Sandai Kitetsu, and slashing at Akainu.
Akainu knew Carl's power and chose to retreat and dodge. But Carl took advantage of the situation, relentlessly swinging both of his swords and forcing Akainu to back off.
"Hey! Carl, you're underestimating me!" Whitebeard said, feeling dissatisfied.
"Uncle Whitebeard, fighting Admirals should be left to the younger generation. You should rest. If you really can't stay put, help me deal with the two candidates for Admiral, Gion and Tokikake," Carl said, pointing to Gion and Tokikake who were catching up.
Carl had given up fighting his two opponents when he saw that Akainu was going to fight Whitebeard. Akainu was reckless and would fight Whitebeard even if he got hurt. Whitebeard was getting old, so fighting Akainu wouldn't be good for him. Carl wanted Whitebeard to live, so he wasn't going to let him do the heavy lifting.
Whitebeard laughed. "Koo la la la! I'm Whitebeard!" With that, he blocked Marco and Jozu with one hand, and with the other, he punched Aokiji, who was enveloped in a white tremor. He was not going to let this man snatch his son.
Marco and Jozu had no choice but to turn around and stop Gion and Tokikake.
As the Admirals and their opponents fought, the situation became completely different. Ordinary sailors and pirates kept their distance from the battle to avoid getting caught in the crossfire.
Carl vs. Akainu
Carl raised both of his swords, arcs of lightning dancing around them as he coated them in a thick layer of Armament Haki. He clashed with Akainu's magma fists, and shockwaves rippled outward. This wasn't the first time he had fought Akainu, so Carl was experienced. He knew Akainu's moves and frequently attacked his weaknesses, forcing him to retreat.
Everyone watching the battle was stunned.
"Carl, the Lightning Great Swordsman, is able to defeat Admiral Akainu? Is he really a member of the Yonko crew?"
"The Straw Hats are terrifying. I thought it was crazy that Luffy could fight Kizaru to a draw, but I didn't expect Carl to be even stronger than Luffy!"
"Admiral Sakazuki won't lose. He's just toying with Carl right now!"
Everyone chattered on, and many people stopped fighting, choosing to watch the battle between Carl and Akainu instead.
Not only the people at the scene but also those watching the live broadcast were in disbelief. Even the rookie pirates with bounties over 100 million were stunned by the scene. They couldn't even see Carl and Akainu's movements.
As they fought, they caused massive damage to the plaza. It was as if they were destroying the world. Akainu fought Carl for a long time and was shocked to find that Carl didn't seem to be using his full power, and he was much stronger than the last time they fought in Alabasta.
This made Akainu extremely wary of Carl and the Straw Hats. The Straw Hats' growth was so fast that it defied common sense. They were definitely going to become the Marines' enemies, so it was best to kill Carl here today. With this thought in mind, Akainu increased his output.
"Great Eruption!" Akainu's magma turned into a fiery dog's head and launched itself at Carl.
Carl wasn't afraid. He stacked his Armament Haki on his two swords and clashed with Akainu's attack. With a loud bang, huge cracks exploded on the ground around them, and the ground they were standing on collapsed.
However, the two of them were still clenching their teeth, and the shockwaves spread out, constantly lifting the ground. The entire Marineford began to shake. The people watching the battle ran away in fright, but many were still blown away by the shockwaves, seriously injured and spitting up blood.
"Ara-ara, this Carl has gotten stronger again!" Aokiji said, his expression grim. The last time he fought Carl, he hadn't reached this level yet. To think that he had grown so much since then was truly terrifying.
"Koo la la la! The young people of today are truly amazing. No wonder he dared to steal my opponent!" Whitebeard was also shocked by Carl's strength. However, thinking about the rumors he'd heard about Carl, he took it in stride.
