Back right when Xushuo was leaving.
Jiuzi was digging a hole.
Wufa: "..."
Wufa: "Why in the world are you digging a hole?"
Jiuzi: "Food, shelter, water,.. a simple hole can cover it all!"
Wufa: "Shelter is somewhat comprehensible, but food nor water I can not fathom."
Jiuzi: "You eat the dirt and drink the water you get from squeezing it."
Wufa: "..."
Jiuzi: "Use common sense idiot."
Wufa: "..."

3 hours later.
Wufa was scribbling something onto a piece of crappy writing matter that allegedly is paper, that he produced, when he took first a quick glance over at Jiuzi's location, or rather, a hole that led to Jiuzi's location, then a longer more concerned glance.
'Is this guy for real?'
"Jiuzi... you're sane, right?"
"Splendidly so."
As Jiuzi uttered the last line, he packed a bit more dirt upwards, blocking himself into the hole he had just dug.
"Very dark here."
"Yeah, no shit."
Wufa could not heed Jiuzi much attention, because his own mind was preoccupied attempting to solve a billion logical puzzles on how to handle a stick.
Jiuzi was now sitting in a dismal dingy dirty dirt hole, with just a shovel and the clothes on his back as his belongings.
'Well, gotta entertain myself somehow...
'Oh, I'll just dig the hole a bit more...
'hey, that city was which direction?
'It'd be so cool if I just like jumped out of the ground and scared everyone.
'I'm so smart.'
Jiuzi currently could not dig much further because he was crouching down on the ground, since the hole could naturally not be dug 6 feet in 3 hours by one guy with barely any cultivaton.
He could only dig approximately 4 feet, this was already better than average, Jiuzi was a strong guy, clearly his muscles got a lot of calories.
Clearly, most the calories.
The hole Jiuzi was digging was enough deep to get in, but you'd get Arthritis pretty quick.
Jiuzi could also not grab the shovel for the same reason of space not being there, and there was nowhere to deposit the dirt anyway.
Creativity struck Jiuzi like a flash lightning, creativity always does in desperate times.
Unfortunately Jiuzi's creativity was too creative.
This creativity was like if you called using a fishing hook to cool your PC down by hacking the CPU off the motherboard creative.
Jiuzi simply began eating the dirt near his face, and used the free space freed up by that to eat more of the dirt.

Three days later.
Through eating all the dirt away, Jiuzi had managed to somehow dig a hole good enough to walk in.

Jiuzi wanted to try out this new technique immediately.
He raised one of his fingers onto the soil and proceeded to immediately begin expressing large amounts of intent towards flowing the Qi out of his finger and into the soil using the technique.
Inside of the soil, the Qi penetrated each individual molecule, shifting and re-arranging them to build macromolecules and flavor compounds, removing debris, and evaporating all the bacteria inside into a fine mist of harmless organelle soup.
The Qi then began enveloping each particulate of dirt, squishing it and allowing it to flow more fluidly.
Immediately, the soil began to get mushier and softer, as well as turning a lighter and more golden color.
This had the absolutely and horridly disastrous side effect of just making it look like someone peed on it.
Jiuzi's mental fortitude, however, was more than capable of handling this very difficult challenge.
Also, it was pitch black, so he didn't see much occurring anyway.

After approximately 16 more hours of dirt-eating, Jiuzi was somehow not yet tired thanks to some god forsaken reason and resilience that most people taking school exams wished they had a sliver of.
What was more horrendous was the state of his teeth, though.
In addition, the hole, at this point, was no longer was deserving the title of "hole", as that was really selling it short, literally.
It was more like a cavern with dwarfism.
There were, however, bad news for Jiuzi, as his latent meridians would really prefer to stay latent and shut up at the moment, despite his insistent will on them continuing to pump more Qi into the dirt.
Eventually, this just led to Jiuzi passing out in the middle of the dwarf cavern, mid dirt-eating.
He slept for one and a half days[1] straight.

After Jiuzi had waken up from this really overdue and really overlong nap, his body was still feeling tired.
