Chapter 211. Today's matter, I'll entrust to all of you!

After the meeting of the Philosopher's Stone Guardians Alliance ended, Hermione hurriedly said goodbye to everyone, holding her books in both arms, and sprinted toward the library.

She needed to seize the time and dive into the ocean of revision, make up for the time she had wasted over the past period, and face the coming exam week.

Harry and Ron also left at speed.

Of course, they were not going to revise, but to frantically finish the Transfiguration homework due tomorrow.

Guarding the Philosopher's Stone was important, but the Transfiguration homework was even more important.

Otherwise, Professor McGonagall would make them regret coming into this world.

"Duncan, do you want to come have a look with us?" Fred said. "We're about to develop another very interesting gadget."

"I'll go another day," Duncan replied. "I've got a little something today as well."

George raised an eyebrow, looked at Duncan, and narrowed his eyes.

"You're not going behind our backs to rush to the library to revise, are you?"

"That's right, you guessed it."

Duncan smiled, waved, turned, and strode down the stairs.

"My God, what did we do wrong to have two terrifying study maniacs around us!" Fred looked up and exclaimed.

But Duncan did not go to the library.

He went straight back to the dormitory.

He had something more important than studying to do today.

Duncan closed the dormitory door, took the suitcase out of the cupboard, opened it on the floor, and stepped in.

As soon as he creaked his way up the stairs to the work shed, a clattering, rustling sound came to his ears, like a tornado howling in the room.

He frowned and turned toward the noisy place.

A swarm of pixies was flitting up and down in mid-air, and a Niffler was scurrying about frantically.

They were playing cat-and-mouse around the room, to the misery of the things on the tables and shelves, which were being knocked to the floor and rolling every which way.

"Duncan, save me, they've all gone mad!"

Pro spotted Duncan, delight in his eyes, and streaked toward where Duncan was standing.

Duncan waved his wand, and the shattered glass cups on the floor reassembled and returned to their original condition.

The clutter all over the floor flew back to where it belonged.

Then he bent down, caught Pro by the scruff, and lifted him up.

With his other hand he signalled the onrushing pixies to stop.

"What are you playing at now?" Duncan said. "You've turned the whole room into a complete mess!"

"We're not playing!" Pro said angrily, flailing his limbs. "Can't you see? They're bullying me!"

"What do you mean 'bullying you'? Pro, have you no shame?" Nofi shot back without backing down. "You knocked my house down first!"

"Is what Nofi said true?"

Duncan hoisted Pro to eye level and asked as he looked at him.

"Why did you do that?"

Pro's angry look froze.

Then, abashed, he rubbed his chubby belly and muttered, "I didn't mean to..."

"So what Nofi said was true, then?"

Duncan flicked Pro's forehead with his finger.

"Ow!" Pro hugged his head, howled exaggeratedly, and said, "I really didn't mean it.

I just wanted to go and find Nofi to play.

But I didn't expect that the moment I climbed onto his house—boom—it collapsed and gave me a fright!"

Duncan looked at Pro's body, which had grown almost spherical, and believed his words.

Wasn't it about time this little fellow went on a diet?

"I clearly told you already!" Nofi stood akimbo, leaning forward, puffed up with anger. "There's a plank in my room that's come loose.

I told you to wait a bit and go up after I'd fixed it.

But you acted like you didn't hear, and climbed up when I wasn't looking—couldn't stop you!"

"I thought you didn't want me to go up and were lying to me..." Pro muttered with his head down, in a very small voice.

"Still not apologising!"

Duncan flicked Pro's head again, then tossed him toward the pixies.

"I leave him to you to deal with as you please!"

Pro's limbs flailed in terror in the air, desperately trying to change direction, but it was useless.

He fell into the middle of the pixies.

"I was wrong, Nofi.

I really know I was wrong.

Next time whatever you say goes.

I'll listen to you in everything!" Pro said sincerely.

"It's already too late!"

Nofi kneaded his fists and said viciously, "I must give you a proper lesson today!"

Duncan said, "Take your time with it.

If you can, Nofi, you'd best drag him outside the room and hit him there, in case you knock things over."

"All right!" Nofi nodded heavily, waved, and several pixies stepped forward.

They grabbed Pro's four limbs with both hands and dragged him toward the door.

"Oh, and supervise him to slim down!" Duncan added. "He's so fat now I can't bear to look.

If this goes on, he'll only be able to roll to walk in future!"

Excitement rose on Nofi's face.

He straightened proudly and promised, "Don't worry, Duncan.

I guarantee I'll complete the mission and definitely get Pro to lose weight!"

"No!" Pro howled in despair. "Duncan, you're too heartless.

You're not my good friend, not my good brother!"

"All right then, in that case..." Duncan said. "Nofi, lay on harder later and don't mind me!"

Pro's eyes went as round as soybeans.

He hadn't expected Duncan to have this move as well and stood there, a bit dazed.

After a moment he came to his senses and hurriedly said, "No, no, Duncan, I misspoke just now..."

Unfortunately, before he could finish, the grinning pixies, singing a battle song, dragged him out of the wooden door and floated toward the distant forest.

Duncan watched them go, then walked out the door, stepped onto the cobblestone path, and headed for the open practice ground where he usually trained magic.

But this time he was not going to practise magic.

He was going to complete what, for him, was the most important thing at this stage!

Pushing through the surrounding towering trees, Duncan stood at the centre of the ground, took a deep breath, and swung his wand.

The ground rumbled and trembled, slowly bulged up, and gradually squirmed and changed into four giant statues.

From left to right they were Merlin with a broad smile, God with arms outstretched, the Tathagata Buddha seated cross-legged, and Laozi riding an ox.

Duncan stepped forward solemnly, transformed a twig in his hand into three lit incense sticks, and bent to stick them into the earth.

"Today's matter, I'll entrust to all of you!"

Duncan spoke softly, then closed his eyes.

The draw machine appeared.

He pressed the button, and the fifteen thousand points at the top decreased rapidly.

Previously, several consecutive draws had given him only a pile of junk; he was only one or two volumes short of completing Gilderoy Lockhart's novels.

So he had saved up all his points and wanted to use this opportunity to see whether a Sino–Western combination could change his rotten luck.
