Chapter 231 - Essence, Authority, and Origin

— — — — — —

The Akame Ga Kill world.

A vast world teeming with people. Possessing a touch of the extraordinary, but not strong. Its aristocracy more deeply entrenched than even Britain's of this era, flaunting their corruption and cruelty without the slightest attempt to hide it…

A trial ground this perfect—since Artoria Pendragon (Lily) herself had agreed to it, Merlin naturally had no reason to object.

After sending the two girls off, Veyron chatted idly with the others for a while before focusing his attention on the two machines he'd been planning: the Enhancement Engine and the Amplification Engine.

At his current level, ordinary enhancement or amplification was child's play—something he could do with a single thought.

But these machines weren't meant to be ordinary. They were to serve as the official "showpieces" when his community made its debut in the Little Garden. That meant they had to be flawless.

Never mind how the beings of the Two-Digit Authority would view them—even those in the Three-Digit Omnipotence Domain shouldn't be able to dismiss them as trivial toys.

Old, unpleasant memories from before his transmigration resurfaced, and Veyron poured a hundred thousand degrees of passion into the project.

Yet before the machines were even complete, an "accident" struck first—

The Gene Lock System had reached the critical boundary of the "Fourth-Tier Peak Stage." The barriers between body, soul (mind), and energy began to dissolve.

Once the body's energy cycle system and the soul's cycle system both hit their limit, unless one walked the pure path of fleshly transcendence, both body and consciousness could be entirely converted into energy.

Veyron, who had already formed his unique energy system—the Divine Ki—at the early stage of the Fourth Tier, was no exception.

And after surpassing the peak stage, the Gene Lock's further growth no longer came from simple accumulation, but from the deepening of one's very essence.

As usual, thanks to the trait [Limiter Release (Gold)], he didn't need to train. His body, soul, and energy would quietly, dutifully grow on its own.

And this "accident" that forced him to pause construction of the machines came precisely from that.

Once his boost accumulation reached fourteen times the standard of late Fourth Tier, his Gene Lock hit the ceiling of what was possible at the peak.

Beyond that point, the path shifted—from accumulating buffs to The Fifth Tier, the supposed final Tier of humans.

And to recall the Gene Lock progression:

Tier 1: Allows the user's body and mind to operate on a higher level—enhanced reflexes, clearer thinking, and better performance across the board.

Tier 2: Grants absolute control over the physical body—every muscle movement, every nerve, all perfectly regulated.

Tier 3: Unlocks absolute control of the brain—enhanced awareness, mental resilience, and even multitasking on a superhuman level.

Tier 4: Genetic Manipulation. You can tweak your genetic code down to the tiniest detail, optimizing your biology for maximum combat performance. Every flaw? Corrected. Every latent potential? Brought to the surface. Essentially, it allows complete genetic reconstruction to enhance and optimize every DNA that matters in battle.

Then what about Tier 5? No clear details existed—whether from the system or from its world, Terror Infinity… All that was certain was that it granted Energy Manipulation. And anyone who reached it could no longer be considered human, but something beyond every race.

In other words… Approaching Cosmic Tier!

And Veyron achieved this tier right now.

Ever since he had created his own energy cycle and forged the trait Divine Ki—then allowed it to devour other seed-abilities, stacking multiplier upon multiplier—he had already been a being who could stand equal to true gods and dimensional beings in combat, all while still developing a Fourth-Tier Gene Lock.

But there was a better way to define Approaching Cosmic.

Essence. Authority. Origin.

First, shattering the Wall of Essence marked the Ordinary Approacher of Cosmic—possessing strength to rival, even defeat, powerful dimensional beings and true gods. With enough accumulation, ascension to multiversal Gods was almost inevitable.

And what were multiversal Gods?

They collapsed all spatial and temporal lines into one, seizing control of absolute causality itself. Their scale rivaled an infinite universe. Their very essence embodied the cosmic origin. Their being was time, was space, was concept, was origin. Among them were those who could alter and wield dimensions and even the fundamental laws of physics.

That was multiversal Cosmic.

Shattering the Wall of Authority marked the Second-Stage Apex Approacher of Cosmic—a being capable of battling, clashing with, and even defeating a multiversal god.

And the final stage—shattering the Wall of Origin. The Third-Stage Transcendent Approacher of Cosmic.

Such an existence could strike directly at the origin itself… and stand as the highest creative force in existence.

It's the level for those who have completely mastered the conversion of space, time, matter, and energy. They could rewrite or erase concepts at will, remake the elements of fire, earth, wind, and water to destroy an entire universe, conjure matter from nothing, create life, or even craft entire planes of existence.

But no real powerhouse could normally set foot on this path. It was the tier of One-Digit in Little Garden. Or even beings similar to the One Above All in Marvel.

Luckily, those so-called 'obstacles' meant nothing to Veyron, who had already amassed enough power to rival gods and dimensional lords long ago—like his incredible days in DC and Marvel.

Take the Essence Wall, for example, the first hurdle. For a Fourth-Tier peak expert, the absolute limit of reaching the next level was fourteen times the essence accumulation of a standard Fourth-Tier.

But Veyron's trait [Limiter Release (Gold)] made a joke of that restriction. Was exceeding fourteen times really a challenge for him?

To him, the wall felt no different from paper—fragile, flimsy, and torn apart the moment he touched it.

That made Veyron wonder—what if Saitama had been dropped into Marvel, DC, or Little Garden?

After all, Saitama had already surpassed the limits of his own world and kept on getting stronger. Veyron remembered laughing at that old meme about Saitama beating Dragon Ball's Goku if he were in the same universe. Honestly, Limiter Release was the biggest cheat of all.

And it easily shattered the Essence wall.

Then, after Essence came the Authority Wall.

Here, another of his traits came into play: [Spirit Rank (Gold)]. The one he got in Little Garden.

When he first obtained it over a month ago, it had been nothing more than a dull white. Now, it gleamed like molten gold.

Its scope? Three digits—the domain of Omnipotence.

And what was the Omnipotence Domain? The name said it all. So long as there was no paradox like in the Little Garden, it meant omniscience and omnipotence.

When it advanced, it even scratched an itch Veyron hadn't realized was bothering him. His trait list had always looked a little off:

→[Comprehension (Red)]

→ [Gene Lock (Gold)]

→ [Destined Death (Gold)]

→ [Limiter Release (Gold)]

→ [Friend Of The World (Gold)]

→ [Spirit Rank (Gold)]

→...

→ [Swordmaster (Purple)]

(Ranks: white < green < blue < purple < orange < gold < red.)

That last one—Swordmaster (Purple)—had always stood out like a bruise in a row of reds and golds. Every time he saw it, Veyron felt… complicated.

Now, things looked much neater. He officially became three-digits.

His Omnipotence Domain Spirit Rank encompassed every ability now. The Swordmaster's mastery of blade and sword was, naturally, included.

He even folded [Destined Death (Gold)], his power to manifest the concept of death itself, into the Spirit Rank as well.

Other traits, like [Photosynthesis (Gold)], could also be integrated, but after some thought, Veyron decided to leave them separate for clarity.

Back to the point.

Even though he hadn't yet reached the double-digit All-Authority Domain, where every authority in existence bowed to his will, the truth was plain: not even a proper multiversal god could claim to fully master every conceptual authority.

So naturally, even as a three-digit, the Authority Wall crumbled before him in no time.

That left the last obstacle: the Origin Wall.

The step beyond rules and authority—the leap into raw origin itself.

Veyron had half-expected this to be the tricky one, the point where even his invincible Soul Light would need to strain and innovate.

But in the end? Shattering the Origin Wall was easier than the other two.

Looking back, the reason was obvious.

He had already refined the fragment of crimson cosmic origin gifted to him by Cytorrak, the Crimson Cosmos Lord of Marvel's universe. With that and other origins he got, he had gained the ability to mold entire universes with his bare hands—universes complete and self-expanding, no less.

Origin. If that wasn't the very definition of origin, what was?

"…Hm? Is it time already?"

As the Essence Wall, the Authority Wall, and the Origin Wall all shattered one after another, Veyron suddenly felt a subtle, indescribable prompting stirring from the depths of his Soul Light.
