My stomach dropped as I saw Luna Axel and Jade falling towards us. They each landed with a thud and began walking towards us. Axel drew his weapons two small labrys but Jade put her hand out stopping him from moving forward.
"Axel no we him in one piece"
Luna walked past Jade and towards Emma.
"Who's this I don't remember seeing her" she turned to look at Nick and the twins. "Or those three… Jade?"
Jade looked at Emma then to the others, her eyes unfocused.
"Their pools are strong energist most likely"
Luna turned back to us.
"illegal energist to be precise" Luna lifted her arms and snow began to form around her hands and under her feet which slowly spread across the ground around us.
Jade and Axel began to walk to our left and right. Axel swung his labrys which clashed together each clash making a thunderous boom. Jade pulled out multiple throwing knives and clad herself in a teal energy. Orion stepped next to me and said.
"Nate we can't beat all of them"
I looked at Orion surprised.
"your going to help us"
Orion turned to face me.
"kinda… just trust me okay"
"I trust you"
Suddenly I felt Orion hand smacked me across the back of my head and I fell to the ground Orion kneeled down and whispered
"don't move until I say so"
I closed my eyes and felt Orion lift me up and over his shoulder.
"Luna stand down I've got them"
Orion walked over to who I could sense was James.
"Actually Orion were taking you in as well"
Orion stopped mid step and I could feel him turn towards Luna.
"Excuse me?"
I could sense Luna walk closer.
"You conspired with illegal energists and for that you must be arrested and taken to Adrian immediately".
Orion stood still but I could feel his body shaking in fear or anger I didn't know. Orion took a hesitant step back.
"Your most mistaken Luna I was nearly forced into a situation where I had to work with the energists in order to complete my mission"
"shut it glow stick save it for Adrian"
Jade and Axel began to move closer. Orion bagan walking towards Ethan and James and suddenly he said
"now Nathen"
I shot off Orion and towards Emma grabbing a hold of her I twisted on my heels and turned towards Ethan and shouted.
"Ethan you need to po-" I was cut of as Axel shot towards Ethan and kicked him sending him flying back into the surrounding houses before I knew it Jade had closed the distance between us and she grabbed me by the collar and threw me away from Emma I crashed through a nearby vacant house and straight through the other end. I skidded to a stop and stood and was immediately stabbed in the shoulder by a throwing knife looking up. I saw Jade nearing me, throwing knives in hand. She shot forward which barely gave me enough time to clad myself in energy and I catapulted back. I landed with a crack and tried to stand which was made difficult by my now most likely sprained leg. Jade walked closer but she was pushed forward by a pink aura looking behind her. I saw James Noah and Emma racing towards me Jade let off a burst of energy which sent the others back. I stepped back but ran into a wall, turning I saw I was right in front of Duvlin Academy luckily the school was closed for the week but I still wanted to keep it in one piece if possible. Jade walked over and I threw a punch but she caught it and kneed me in the stomach. She threw me through the brick wall and I landed in the field just in front of the academy. I stood up and just barely sidestepped a burst of energy that crashed through the school.
"So much for keeping the school in one piece"
Jade began to throw her knifes forcing me to retreat into the school I ran down the halls dodging knives and blasts of teal energy I turned the corner but a knife caught me in the back of my leg sending me crashing to the ground I tried to stand but Jade kicked me back down I turned and saw her pull out another knife this one longer.
"Adrian wanted you alive but I think your better of dead"
Jade lifted the knife into the air and was about to plunge it into my heart when. "My days, what is a ruffian like yourself doing in my academy?" I turned my head and saw headmaster William approaching us.
"Headmaster run please"
"Good golly Nathen I haven't seen you in months is this ruffian giving you trouble"
"Headmaster please get out of here she going to kill you if you don't"
Headmaster William scoffed as he walked closer.
"I've dealt with a lot worse, Nathen".
Headmaster William approched Jade who said "I don't got time for games old man"
She dashed forward with the knife in hand but to my utter shock Headmaster William blocked it with one finger. Jade stepped back shocked and that's when Headmaster William shocked me for a second time as he made a blade of red glowing energy.
"How many energist are in this Goddamn city"
I was shocked, first Frederick and now William I thought I knew a lot about Duvlin but it was clear I had just scratched the surface of this city's true secrets. William shot forward hitting Jade her stomach with the butt of his sword Jade was sent skidding back and choked up a bucket of blood.
"What the hell what did you do to me"
"it's simple really I hit you in one of your vital organs I do say if you're telling me you don't know simple fighting techniques then this battle is already over young lady".
William lifted his blade and flew over at Jade slashing her across the chest.
"You better hope your blood doesn't stained anything"
Jade stumbled back one hand still holding her knife the other on her chest. She stepped back and said.
"This isn't…" Jade let out a bloody cough
"This isn't over old man"
Headmaster William stepped forward, his blade shining, he dashed forward but Jade's body vanished just as he blade would have made contact. I watched closely and noticed Jade's shadow move. But where was Jade? I looked around but the shadow had no source then it was gone.
I saw James Noah and Emma approaching the school as William made his way towards me. He reached his hand out which I took and he lifted me up to my feet.
"You seemed to of made some enemies in your absences young Nathaniel"
"Headmaster what… I… you. You are a energist but… how I em but no… what"
"Now young Nathaniel I know my must be very confused and I will explain in due time but first we need to train you"
"I'm sorry you're going to train me?"
Headmaster William let out a chuckle.
"no no young Nathaniel you're going to be trained by the top energist in Glannway academy.
"Glannway academy?"
"It's the top academy to teach young energists how to use their power I actually was the old Headmaster there before I came here"
"Okay okay let me get this straight there's a whole academy or energists I thought there were only a handful of them.
"It's not a very big academy, there's only around 300 students, most of them don't go on to become heros so many of them live here among us as normal workers.
I sat down on the ground, my hands resting on the back of my head.
"This is a lot wow"
I thought for a moment then.
"You seem awfully calm Headmaster" I stood up
"In fact you never even questioned the fact that I'm an energist"
Headmaster Willain smiled at me and said.
"You've got a lot to learn young Nathaniel you and your friends" The Headmaster turned and I followed his gaze and saw Emma James and Noah walking into the school through the hole. And behind him was Orion bloody and battered with a sad expression on his face. I walked over.
"Orion what-"
"I'm sorry Nate I couldn't stop them"
Orion stumbled closer.
"We were barely able to fight of Axel but Luna she took Ethan Liam and those other energist I tried to stop them but I was to weak"
"THEY TOOK NICK" Emma pushed past me and grabbed Orion by the shirt.
"You let them take my brother you bas-" Emma lifted her hand to slap him but I grabbed it.
"Emma no stop it isn't his fault"
Tears bagan welling up in Emma's eyes but she held them back as she let go of Orion.
James walked over to us.
"What are we going to do we can't fight Adrian and his top soldiers you saw what happened we could barely fight one of them let alone four"
"Well young James I might have a way for you to become stronger"
I turned to Headmaster William.
"Sir we can't go to this academy we need to save our friends"
"Bur Young Nathaniel it's as James said your simply too weak to fight them. you need to get stronger and the academy's the best way and look your all already old enough for it"
I looked at William then to Orion.
"Well some of us are a little older"
Headmaster William scoffed and walked over to Orion who looked confused then surprised when Headmaster William headed into his shirt and pulled out a necklace I didn't even know Orion wore.
Headmaster William pulled the necklace forcefully of Orion and then to our shock he went from what seemed to be a 25 year old man to what looked to be a 16 year old teen.
"a simple aging chain you can't full we with such tricks"
"Orion what the hell is going on"
Orion looked at me and opened his mouth but stopped whatever he wanted to say he couldn't bring himself to.
"It's… a long story".
I paced back and forwards deep in thought.
"Okay I get we need to get stronger but we still can't leave my brother and the others what if they get hurt or worse killed"
"Adrian won't kill them I can assure you that"
I turned to Orion who continued to speak.
"He needs Liam and Ethan he wants them as soldiers and the others energists he'll most likely just use as hostages if we attack him".
Could we really leave Liam Nick the twins… and my brother while we went of to some academy. It was ludicrous but the more I tried to think of ideas the more I realised it was probably are best shot.
"Okay we'll do it… we'll go to be trained at Glannway academy"
James looked at me confused.
"Glannway academy? Where on earth is that"
"No no young James not on earth"
We all looked at Headmaster confused.
Headmaster pointed a finger onto the air and said
"We're going up. Up to the floating islands of Glannway".
