When the Vast Sea appeared in the sky above this planet, the Corgi Empire had already detected the strange phenomena in the heavens.
As the most powerful empire on Magic War Planet, the capital of the Corgi Empire housed three Sages and two Saints—almost half of the top-tier combat power of Magic War Planet. It was undeniably a prosperous and formidable force.
And that was precisely why Ye Wen targeted them first.
Corgi Sectort, the leader of the Sages of Magic War Planet and the strongest individual on the planet, possessed strength rivaling that of a divine official. Rumor had it that he had lived for over a thousand years.
Unfortunately, despite spending nearly a millennium trying to understand the rules of ascending to godhood in this universe, Sectort remained stuck at the peak of demi-godhood.
When the Vast Sea loomed over Magic War Planet, Sectort was the first to step out of his mage tower, his expression grave as he gazed at the crimson ship shimmering ominously in the sky.
"What terrifying and ominous power is this? What exactly is that thing?"
Furrowing his brows deeply, Sectort quickly issued orders to prepare for any emergencies. He understood well the principle that unusual events always harbored danger, especially since the skies, which had remained unchanged for eons, were now displaying such anomalies.
The arrival of Ye Wen and his forces made no attempt at concealment.
An overwhelming pressure, emanating from beings with power equivalent to ninth-rank fighters or even Title Douluos, instantly enveloped the entire capital of the Corgi Empire, causing Sectort's face to pale dramatically.
"How terr—"
Before Sectort could finish his exclamation, two figures clad in blood-red divine armor appeared before him—Title Douluos.
"Magic War Planet's number one special-class combatant, Corgi Sectort, are you sure you wish to resist?"
As the strongest warrior of Magic War Planet, seasoned through countless battles, Sectort instinctively attempted to use non-verbalized magic to subdue the two figures before him. However, their words sent chills down his spine, for the faint trace of divine power they carried filled him with an overwhelming sense of helplessness.
Seeing Sectort frozen in place, the other Title Douluo spoke up.
"Your fate has been sealed, but your strength has earned the recognition of our god. Submit now, and we will bring you before the supreme Vast Sea God King."
At the mention of "Vast Sea God King," Sectort's eyes lit up, and his breathing quickened as he asked anxiously:
"The Vast Sea God King?! Is the Vast Sea God King truly a god? An immortal god?"
The first Title Douluo frowned, though Sectort couldn't see it. His displeased tone, however, chilled Sectort to the bone.
"Show some respect, native of Magic War Planet!!!
For the great and supreme Vast Sea God King, you should address him as 'His Majesty, the Vast Sea God King,' not call him by his divine name directly! That is blasphemy!!!
If my god didn't find you valuable, I would crush you where you stand."
Under the oppressive aura of the Title Douluo, Sectort shrank back like a quail, trembling with fear. But soon, a flicker of shame and anger rose within him.
How many centuries had it been since he last felt such emotions? Yet, considering the two figures before him could easily kill him, Sectort swallowed his pride and chose to endure.
"If I have value, I won't die. Once I surpass you two in the future, I'll definitely settle the score for today," Sectort cursed inwardly.
Soon, under the guidance of the two Title Douluos, Sectort knelt before Ye Wen in mid-air.
A mere demi-god like Sectort could be exterminated by Ye Wen with a snap of his fingers, so Ye Wen paid little heed to him.
The reason Sectort was brought here was for a specific purpose.
"Corgi Sectort, rise."
Sectort obediently stood up, though his posture was slightly hunched.
Ye Wen did not continue speaking to Sectort but instead turned to the two returning Title Douluos and gave them a simple command: "Go down and assist. Otherwise, you'll lose out on merit points for coming here."
"Yes!" The two Title Douluos saluted in unison, transforming into streaks of light as they dove toward the capital city, now shrouded in smoke and chaos.
Ye Wen had no intention of wasting time. The reason he had brought this old man up was to make him a guide, helping Ye Wen conquer this world as quickly as possible.
Thus, Ye Wen cut straight to the chase, tempting Sectort with five simple words: "Do you wish to become a god?"
These five words struck directly at Sectort's heart. He immediately knelt again, bowing his head repeatedly.
"Great Vast Sea God King, please show me mercy! I yearn to become a god! I will agree to any condition, just grant me the chance to ascend!"
The older one grows, the more one fears death. Ye Wen had thoroughly investigated this matter—Sectort's lifespan was nearing its end. If he failed to break through to the level of a divine official, death was inevitable.
Having enjoyed the pinnacle of power, status, and worldly pleasures, how could Sectort bear to simply grow old and die? The desire for godhood had long driven him to madness, much like ancient emperors of the past who, in their twilight years, sought the elusive promise of immortality.
"It can be done," Ye Wen said indifferently. "Complete the tasks I assign to you, and I guarantee you will earn the qualifications to ascend after your success."
As for the divine power supply required after reaching the divine official realm—that was not Ye Wen's responsibility. That was the true cost of eternal life.
Poor Sectort still didn't realize that in this world, nothing was truly free, and cheap promises often came with hidden costs. He would diligently serve Douluo Star in the future without realizing the price he would pay.
Finally, Ye Wen issued his orders to Sectort: to help consolidate the strong individuals of the Corgi Empire and all its subordinate factions, preparing to launch an unprecedented war across Magic War Planet.
After all, the primary goal of Ye Wen's conquest of planets was faith power. A unified nation would undoubtedly be far more efficient at gathering faith than hundreds of fragmented states.
If unrest arose later, Ye Wen could always ignite another war of division, allowing suffering to spread once more and rekindling belief in the divine. After all, in Ye Wen's eyes, such a mundane-level world held little value unless it produced god-level combatants.
As for whether this approach was humane—
At this moment, Ye Wen could only chuckle coldly.
Though the human inhabitants of Magic War Planet bore little difference in appearance to the soul masters of Douluo Star, the divergence in planetary rules had set them on vastly different paths. Strictly speaking, they could no longer be considered the same race.
However, Ye Wen had devised plans for governance. If the top-tier experts of Magic War Planet were willing to accept the rules of Douluo Star and undergo transformation, Ye Wen would welcome them, allowing them to become glorious soul masters.
By now, Ye Wen could already envision the future. Once he seized all the planes of the former divine realm, the continuous influx of god-level talents would allow Douluo Star to ascend endlessly.
Sectort, true to his reputation as the strongest of Magic War Planet, proved to be an excellent collaborator.
As the commander of this campaign, Ye Wen began to understand the mindset of those ghosts from his previous life.
Indeed, humans were inherently hypocritical.
Hatred, understanding, and becoming—it was the eternal melody of humanity.
