This is a two-story bamboo building atop a hanging mountain, its outer walls painted a dull grayish-blue. The eaves protrude from the walls, the curve not appearing light due to its bend, yet not like the stern-faced old monk. From afar, it has a quaint pagoda-like charm. According to Chen Yi, this was the residence of his master, Master Tongxuan. Unconsciously, Yin Weiyin compared it to her own dwelling at Taihua Mountain, which was ultimately more serene and elegant.
"At that time, she lived here. She would sit in meditation through the night, and it was fine for Lu Ying and me to consult her late into the night. She was only too eager for us two lazy bones to be more diligent. Of course, we had some rules to uphold. After daily lectures, we disciples still had to perform the proper rituals. In the afternoon, the junior disciples would serve tea to the senior ones and the master. But those were small courtesies, and eventually... they became less strict."
