Ma Juan first led Chen Bin to buy some barbecue, then picked up two cases of beer.
This startled Chen Bin.
"Shouldn't we buy less? It's too much; we might not finish it."
"Don't worry, better safe than sorry!"
Without delay, the two headed to Ma Juan's rental apartment.
The apartment wasn't very big, but having two bedrooms and a living room was quite nice for a single woman.
As soon as Chen Bin started opening the barbecue bag, Ma Juan had already begun drinking.
She downed a bottle of beer without even pausing for breath.
Chen Bin didn't dare speak and hurriedly grabbed his chopsticks to eat.
After all, having some food in the stomach makes drinking less uncomfortable.
Slamming the empty beer bottle onto the table, Ma Juan said boldly,
"Drinking like this is boring. How about we make a bet? One case of beer each—whoever gets drunk first loses. How about it?"
Chen Bin shook his head at the idea.
