Chapter 73 - Spirit Vision

Bob was a true soul lacking a body, so unlike Epsilon whose senses had merely been opened up to them, Bob was much more in tune, and could see things even deeper than Epsilon could.

As such, the only one who could actually see Smile Of Heavens true condition, was him.

"When that girl inhabits an object, the shape of her soul becomes linked with whatever she's inside, so when the object breaks, she breaks too."

What Gracia had told Epsilon before was a rough summary. This was her abilities true nature.

"But from what I've observed, this connection is one way."

"What!?"

Galahad looked at Epsilon with a confused look, to him he was currently speaking to air.

"Did he go crazy?"

Ki Song nodded her head.

"It's infectious."

Since the connection between Gracia and her object was one sided, that meant any changes made to her own soul, wouldn't reflect upon the item she was inhabiting.

"But if the connection is one way, what's the issue? That just means that if Gracia somehow recoverd, the sword would stay the same?"

Bob shook his head,

"That is true, but think about it like this. Let's say I were to punch you in the stomach. If It were to rupture your internal organs, would you treat it by putting a bandage on it?"

Epsilon thought about it for a while. He wasn't educated, but he had the common sense to understand that, if an organ was injured it wasn't a simple matter of kissing it and hoping it gets better. It was life threatening, and simply caring for the surface wouldn't help.

His eyes widened.

"Even if this Anvil person were to fix the sword, he'd only be treating the outside body. The shape of the girls soul, her organs would remain damaged. The only thing keeping her alive is her remarkable willpower, but even now its wailing. If she is to be saved, then she needs surgery, or in this case, a power that can also interact with her soul."

In other words, even if anvil was present in the current moment, he could do nothing to help Smile of Heaven.

"You can help her, right? Do something then!"

"Of course I can, but, you seem to be forgetting something. I can't do anything without an intermidiery. If I am to save her life..

Then you need...

To sign...

The contract!!"

Without Epsilon's own intervention, the runes of the Nightmare spell manifested before him again, this time with the same unusual content.

[Contractor: Bob]

[Contractee: End Of The Unbound]

[Observer: — ]

[Contract type: Equals]

[Terms & Conditions: The Contractor agrees to share the contractee all of their power for the duration of the contract, and in exchange, the Contractee must take them to, and explore the desired location.]

[Will you accept?]

[Yes/No]

And without hesitation, Epsilon shouted,

"Yes!"

The spell runes vanished, and at the same time, something strange began to take place in Bob. The dark smoke that his body was formed of shook. Although subtle, it grew a little bigger and more intense.

But it wasn't just that, a thin black line shot out of its body, immediately connecting itself to Epsilon.

'This is!!'

He recognized it immediately. It was almost identical to what connected him with Nero, however, this didn't feel as instense.

Bob himself seemed a little confused. Not at the strange string that connected them both, but at something else entirely. He seemed distracted more than anything, but Epsilon could not see what it was.

"Bob!"

Snapping out, he cursed silently,

"Dammnit."

Bob flew straight into his chest, greatly surprising him. For a second, Epsilon thought that Bob would possess his body the same way Gracia could possess objects, but he was glad to see that he was still in control.

Instead, his body underwent a strange change, particularly in his eyes. He felt them buldge causing him to groan, but quickly they settled.

After brushing his eyes, when he looked up at Galahad and Ki Song, he saw a bright yellow light, and a liquid red sphere glowing in the centre of their chests.

They both looked at him to worryingly, but he quickly dismissed their fears.

But gazing at the fragments of the broken sword, Epsilon could see a much smaller and dimmer white light dwelling in each shattered piece.

Instantly he understood that he was staring at Smile Of Heavens soul.

And it was growing weaker by the second.

Noticing his panic, Bob continued,

"Now follow my instructions carefully."

Jolting, Epsilon was surprised to hear Bob's voice in his head, but he quickly regained his composure.

"Put your hand over the broken vessel, and let me handle the rest."

"Alright."

Epsilon did as instructed, with Galahad and Ki Song watching him patiently. Then, Epsilon felt something warm bubble in his chest. The strange sensation seemed to swim about, as if trying to figure out where to go, before rushing down his arm.

It felt strangely ticklish, but alien. He could then feel the strange energy course out of his arm, and pour into the fragments of Smile Of Heavens sword.

Ki Song and Galahad could only see the sword glowing subtly on the outside, but Epsilon could see each fragment of Gracia's soul, slowly be pierced together back together, one by one.

Much like a surgery, each movement required an incredible amount of precision that could have disastrous consequences if a single mistake occured, such as figuring out which pieces fit where, and sealing up the cracks with that mystical energy.

This was a precision that Epsilon did not possess, so he gratefully watched Bob do the majority of the bulk work, however, that didn't mean he could be lazy.

As Bob worked, he dutifully studied the process, trying to figure out how to use this energy for himself, as well as observing Gracia's soul be repaired.

And eventually, after an hour or so, it was finally done.

"It worked!?"

As the remains of Smile Of Heavens sword began to disintegrate into a rain of sparks, the rejuvenated spirit was floating in the palms of Epsilons hands. Despite what happened before, she was glowing with an even brighter radiance, with the other two having to shield their eyes,

"What happened..?"

Just seeing her, he thought that she might be different. Her soul was damaged, and with Bob interfering, he feared that mabye she wouldn't be the same Gracia as before.

And then a moment later, she said with a hint of disappointment,

"...What is he doing here?"

Epsilon let out a little laugh. All his suspicions were cleared in an instant.

And then, he collapsed to the floor. Bob silently exited his body, while Ki Song rushed to help him.

Putting her hand against his forehead, she could tell right away that it was dreadfully cold, as well as that, his pulse had gotten weaker.

"What's wrong with him?", Gracia asked.

"Its Essence exhaustion."
