The black sedan drove slowly along the road.
Lin Yuan'ai rolled down the window and looked outside.
"Mr. Mu, since you're so unwelcome to me visiting your home, and yet you insist on sending me off—only to then offer to drive me back—if there's something you want to say, just say it directly!"
Lin Yuan'ai cut straight to the point.
"Yuan'ai, we've been friends for decades. There are some things I don't want to beat around the bush about—I just want clear answers."
Mu Jingheng's reply took Lin Yuan'ai slightly by surprise.
"So you really deliberately wanted to 'drive' me back home?"
Mu Jingheng nodded and then pulled the car over to the side of a road where few vehicles passed.
Lin Yuan'ai furrowed her brow and gazed at the man sitting in the driver's seat, his refined features tinged with worry and unease.
Unexpectedly, she saw Mu Jingheng take out a cigarette and, in visible distress, take a drag.
