As soon as he rounded the corner of the corridor, Gu Ningyi walked out of the ward. Dong Xin Yan hid behind a waist-high vase, listening to the approaching footsteps. She quickly retreated further inside until the footsteps gradually faded away into the distance and disappeared altogether. Only then did Dong Xin Yan emerge from behind the vase.
