By the time they arrived in Brocade City the next afternoon, Griffith Squire had been staying there for quite a while. Delphine vaguely knew he was staying in Brocade City to repay a favor, though she wasn't sure if he had married into the family yet.
Thinking of Griffith's expression when he mentioned repaying the favor through marriage, Delphine smiled faintly. The innate roguishness in Griffith hadn't faded; just like Ignatius Leclair, he was a domineering person. Not to mention marrying in, he'd probably take over the woman's family influence altogether.
"It'll be another hour before we arrive. If you're tired, want to sleep on my lap for a while?" Seeing she had been daydreaming since they got in the car, Ignatius thought of how Brocade City had become Griffith's territory and how Delphine and Griffith had almost ended up together before, causing his phoenix eyes to darken a bit.
