Evelina angrily said, "Do you think your brother would lie to me?! If you want to shirk responsibility, don't blame it on your brother! Don't let this happen again, or if your brother gets hurt again, don't blame me for not acknowledging you as my daughter!"
Evelina hung up the phone, and Mabel Quinn looked at the phone in her hand, a bitter smile appearing at the corner of her lips.
"What's wrong, whose call was it? You look terrible," Lilith leaned over and asked.
"It's nothing, just a call from home," Mabel said blandly. She should have been used to it by now. To her mother, her brother was everything, and she was insignificant.
Not long after, Cecil Quinn also called, telling her over the phone that he didn't want their mother to know that he had been at the police station last night, so he made up an excuse and shifted the blame to Mabel.
