"No betrayal?" Edmund Foster sarcastically retorted, the irony unmistakable, "What about that young starlet being pregnant? If she hadn't called Mia herself, Mia would still be in the dark. Don't tell me you didn't know about her pregnancy. If there hadn't been an accident, would you have wanted to secretly raise an illegitimate daughter like your father?"
Felix Shaw was left speechless by Edmund Foster's aggressive questioning, unable to find a defense for himself. Although he hadn't thought about letting Elizabeth have the child, Edmund Foster was right; Elizabeth's pregnancy was an undeniable fact.
With pursed lips, he stubbornly said, "Either way, I won't agree to the divorce." Then he left Edmund Foster's office.
