I lay back on my bed, the pillow softer than usual—or maybe it's just the fatigue weighing me down. My body's weak, my throat's sore, and my mind's drifting all over the place. Especially to Lexus.
I still can't wrap my head around the fact that he's here. In my house. Taking care of me. Thee Lexus Knight. Billionaire. Mafia don. A man who could easily send a dozen people to nurse me back to health with the snap of his fingers. But instead, he came himself.
Why would he do that?
I smile faintly. I tamed the beast. But as fast as the thought blooms, I shut it down. He can't love me. Not really. He never said it while we were married. Not even once.
