Chapter 70: Insights into Yin-Yang Release Training

"Don't take such risks next time — the village is full of your comrades."

"I understand, Hokage-sama."

"And you too, Shisui — when you encounter a criminal like that, it's best to send up a signal flare instead of trying to handle it alone."

"My apologies, Hokage-sama."

Late at night, inside the Hokage's office.

Hiruzen Sarutobi gazed at the two shinobi before him. He shook his head with a sigh — but there was a faint smile hidden in his expression.

What exactly that smile and sigh meant… only he knew.

"But what a shame — that villain still managed to escape."

"Hokage-sama, it's likely that he used the Uchiha clan's forbidden jutsu, Izanagi. That would explain how he avoided a fatal attack and escaped."

Shisui answered without hesitation, and Haruta, standing beside him, pressed his lips together in silence.

Seriously? You just blurt that out?

No wonder Shisui dared to reveal his Kotoamatsukami ability.

Konoha knew about Izanagi — they even had documented copies of it — which was why they hadn't reacted too strongly yet.

But if Shisui openly explained his Mangekyo Sharingan powers… Danzo would be the first to come knocking!

The battle was over, and Uchiha Obito had fled.

Haruta honestly didn't have a way to stop him from running.

Shisui had likely used Kotoamatsukami as a finishing move to erase Obito's consciousness, but unfortunately, if there was one thing Obito excelled at, it was escaping death.

Plus, with Black Zetsu lurking in the shadows, stopping him was nearly impossible.

When Obito was dazed — his mask already shattered by Haruta — a massive tree suddenly sprouted from the ground, forcing Haruta to dodge immediately.

At the same time, he clearly sensed a surge of chakra and noticed that the Flying Thunder God mark had shifted from its original spot to another location.

That's when it clicked — Obito had probably used Izanagi and retreated into his Kamui dimension.

"Did he set that up in advance, or was it Black Zetsu's doing?"

Haruta vaguely recalled a moment from the manga and anime — that chaotic battle among the four Mangekyo Sharingan users — where someone used Izanagi to resurrect both himself and his subordinates. A total cheat move.

It was also possible that Obito, ever cautious, had preemptively set up Izanagi to automatically trigger if his consciousness faltered.

After the battle, there was, of course, a report to give.

Haruta noticed Shisui seemed troubled — hesitant to mention the details about Obito and their conversation.

It made sense. This involved Danzo and Konoha's higher-ups, and Shisui kept glancing at Haruta as if unsure how much to reveal.

Seeing this, Haruta stepped in to smooth things over.

In his report, he explained:

He had sensed a faint Flying Thunder God mark trailing Shisui, so he followed it. When Shisui confronted Uchiha Obito, Haruta stepped in to help.

Hiruzen didn't press further — a subtle show of trust in his subordinates.

Besides, there was something even more puzzling that had been gnawing at him.

"That man… why could he use Wood Release? And Haruta, you..."

"Hokage-sama, I have no idea why I can use Wood Release either."

Haruta shook his head firmly, his face a picture of confusion.

"During the fight, I suddenly felt his chakra explode… and for some reason, his chakra seemed to resonate with my own.

"When he used Wood Release, I had this strange feeling — like I could do it too — so I just..."

As he spoke, Haruta raised his hand. A slight shift in his chakra, and a sharp wooden spike shot out from his palm.

The spike carried a faint, unique chakra signature.

It might not have been noticeable before, but now Hiruzen clearly sensed it.

"This… is the life force aura Yamato mentioned?"

Hiruzen muttered to himself.

Haruta's Wood Release was noticeably different from Yamato's.

In that moment, a thought took root in his heart.

"Could this boy… be from the Senju clan?"

It was a well-known fact that members of the Senju clan often inherited Wood Release.

But the Senju clan had long since scattered across Konoha, many of them breaking their family ties to blend in with ordinary villagers.

It was entirely possible that Haruta was a descendant of the Senju.

"A naturally awakened Wood Release…"

Hiruzen's heart surged with joy — though he forced himself to remain calm.

This boy kept surprising him.

At first, Hiruzen thought he'd simply discovered a talented Anbu.

Then, he thought Haruta might be the next Minato Namikaze.

But now… he realized this kid might be skipping right past his teacher's level — heading straight for the First Hokage's legacy.

"Thank you, Danzo!"

Of course, he knew this was only the beginning of the trouble ahead.

Danzo would undoubtedly come sniffing around, and Hiruzen needed to gather more information about Haruta.

He'd already reviewed Haruta's records, but now he planned to comb through them again — even digging into his ancestry if possible.

Though, if Haruta truly was a war orphan, there might not be much more to uncover.

Still — as long as Haruta belonged to Konoha — that was all that mattered.

"I understand."

Hiruzen nodded solemnly, though his joy still flickered behind his eyes.

"I'll give you access to the Wood Release scrolls. For now, you'll train alongside Kakashi — no missions for the time being."

"...Uh…"

Haruta's face stiffened.

This wasn't quite what he wanted.

"And I'll summon Tsunade back."

Hiruzen continued before Haruta could protest.

"With Uchiha Obito also using Wood Release, this situation is complicated. It's best to have Tsunade investigate.

"Besides… you and her may share a connection — it'll be easier for you both to support each other."

What connection?

Haruta scoffed inwardly — but in the end, he nodded.

Bringing Tsunade back was definitely a good thing.

He had long admired her… impressive assets.

"And Shisui — you should avoid using your eyes recklessly."

Hiruzen finally shifted his focus to Shisui.

"You're a genius, and you've impressed me time and time again… but I want you to live long enough to serve Konoha for years to come.

"So protect your eyes. If you're willing, I want you to stay and train alongside Haruta. Of course, if..."

"Hokage-sama, I'm willing to stay and train with Haruta."

Shisui didn't hesitate.

He knew how much trouble his Mangekyo Sharingan would attract — from the clan, from Danzo… from those lurking in the shadows.

That was why he had kept his power hidden until now.

But the situation had changed.

Staying close to the Third Hokage would shield him from some of the fallout.

More importantly, through Haruta, he might learn more about Danzo.

While Shisui contemplated all this, Haruta's mind was already elsewhere — fully focused on his system interface.
