Jorghan sat across from Queen Amalthea in one of the newly completed meeting chambers, the space simple but functional with windows overlooking the construction site where Colloniel Ruina slowly rose from its decaying state.
Kleela sat beside her mother, swinging her small legs and humming softly while she made tiny flowers bloom in her palm. Pecah stood near the window, his transparent wings catching the afternoon light in rainbow patterns.
The queen had requested this private meeting, and Jorghan had sensed the importance in her tone when she'd asked through Pecah earlier that morning.
"I've been thinking about our situation," Amalthea began, her golden eyes meeting his directly. "The sacred bonding that occurred in the caves. The marriage recognized by my people and blessed by the godmothers."
Jorghan waited, giving her space to express whatever conclusion she'd reached.
