Chapter 120 - Turning Back 19.6 (Part 1)

Lately, taking the train has been a sure sign that a storm is coming, and this time was no exception. I didn't forget my headphones today, which helped keep my nerves under control. As much as they can be controlled.

* Tap, tap, tap.*

The sound of the sole of my shoe repeatedly hitting the floor was deafening even with music playing.

I wasn't alone inside, but there weren't many people. That's to be expected on a Saturday morning. It's been over a month since I've gotten up early on a weekend, all thanks to a trio who wouldn't change their plans.

They make me get up early like an idiot. What's so important about going to a shopping mall early?

As I told Otsuki on the phone, today was the day I was supposed to meet up with her and her friends. It was my duty to apologize for what I did.

The worst part about her making me get up early wasn't getting up, but sleeping in. She knew I had to wake up early, and constantly reminding me of that kept me from sleeping in.

Taking a shower might have woken me up a little, but I was far from being in good shape. Terrible condition considering what the future holds.

Like any other city, this one had a shopping mall that I only went to in the manga and anime shops to buy volumes or figures, and even then, only when I had the money. Otherwise, I didn't go there on my own. I've always bought my clothes with my dad.

And whenever I talk about clothes, I end up thinking the same thing.

I need to dress better…

Right now I'm wearing the most generic outfit possible. Blue sweatshirt, long gray sweatpants, and obviously black shoes. The only thing that's decent is my hair, which, even if I barely comb it, always ends up looking acceptable.

Of the few people there, I wasn't the only one dressed generically, but that was certainly no excuse for looking so bad. At least they all looked better and had better hair. Most of them, anyway.

Those who were dressed differently were probably older than me. One boy was wearing very large, ripped jeans with chains on them, and bracelets and rings on his arms and hands, all accompanied by an unbuttoned leather jacket and a t-shirt… extravagant, but it suited his style.

Another one looked quite elegant, wearing a beige jacket with a gray t-shirt underneath, trousers the same color as his jacket, and a watch on his wrist.

There were a couple more, but I didn't pay much attention to them since they were at the other end, and I wasn't going to get up just to get a better look. All of this mattered little to me, after all.

It doesn't really matter how I dress...

This cycle of thoughts would be the reason why I still don't dress differently.
