Chapter 19 - Chapter Nineteen

Evelynne lay flat on her back staring at the canopy bed. She was deep in thought and she didn't notice the creaking of the door and Beth stepping inside until the bed dipped.

"How are you, eve?" Beth asked. She knew that tone and all. Whenever she used that voice and tone, even her name. She was trying to connect and ask her like a friend rather than her personal maid.

Was she okay? Was she doing the right thing? Everything keeps falling every time she tries thinking of a good plan. What did that woman mean when she said those words to her? Tears welled up in her eyes and Beth rushed to her side and hugged her.

After coming back to the pack house like she never left since no one was supposed to know. She heard and got so much information concerning Beta Magnus and his abettors.

She knew what she was signing up for the day she challenged him. He was an evil and wicked man alongside the other alphas.

"Shh things are going to get better. Be strong for me and everyone who has high hopes for what you could do to stop what is happening in this pack" She cooed, encouraging her. She knew how hard it is to stand up to the men of their realm.

It wasn't just waking up and challenging them but going as far as asking and dragging the seat of one the biggest pack in thalvion. Who could dare that? No one.

"It's hard Beth" she shook her head in tears. She hardly and rarely teared up in front of Beth but she was getting weak and also ready for the road she knew she may lose her life and no one would miss her but Beth.

"Shhh it's going to get better. I'm always here for you. If you decide to drop everything off and wish to run away. I will always be here. We could leave for feldra"

Evelynne raised her head up, as much as that idea struck a chord and desperately inviting, she would decline. Land of feldra was the land of witches. Leaving this thalvion to feldra would cost her nothing but her safety and happiness.

She cleaned her eyes with her hand which was so unladylike "that suggestion is as inviting as my best sweet but no." She stood up and went to the window to stand. "Beta Magnus is a conniving bastard that will not just destroy this pack but destroy everyone in thalvion"

"You said the vampires were the one behind the attack?"

"Yes. Everything led to them, which I know the alphas present here are aware of but will probably let it slide."

"What then are you going to do?"

Evelynne pulled the curtains away and her eyes zeroed out on the garden at the back of her quarters. She smiled "nothing."

"Nothing?"

Betty stood, walking towards evelynne, "nothing? Why did you go there if you would do nothing? This is just the beginning of what I know would be a war with the vampires infiltrating thalvion."

"Hmm. I can't do anything right now Beth. I'm not yet the alpha and have no say to give a word to the people and they would act upon it. The test for the seat needs to be done effectively for there to be any decision"

"So?"

"I need to pass that test before I decide or any decision is laid down not just concerning the sudden killings but for astral blood pack"

"And how will you do it?" Beth stood at her back. Taking her hair into her hands she combed through it with her fingers.

"Wait and watch Betty"
