Miranda gripped the small bottle tightly in her hand as she hurried down the corridor toward the kitchen, her steps fast and silent. Just as she turned a corner, a figure stepped into her path.
"Watch where you're going," Penny said sharply, her sudden appearance making Miranda jolt.
Miranda's hand instinctively moved behind her back, hiding the bottle with practiced ease. But the flicker of panic didn't go unnoticed.
Penny tilted her head, eyes narrowing with suspicion.
"What's with that look?" she asked, voice laced with curiosity and caution. "You look like I just caught you doing something you shouldn't."
Miranda schooled her expression, but the tightness around her eyes gave her away. Penny took a slow step closer, clearly not buying her innocent act.
She wasn't here by accident. Penny had been quietly watching Miranda ever since Lyra confided her suspicions.
