Larry Kelloman was awestruck by his surroundings. The area appeared to be a perfect symphony of plague, pestilence, disease vectors and new life.It appeared to be a perfect cycle of decay and rebirth. It was oddly beautiful. It was difficult to describe it with words as there was so much variety and difference in every square metre.
"I'm glad you can appreciate the beauty of my gardens.Mortal minds sometimes find it difficult to comprehend what they are actually bearing witness to but you were born special." A feminine voice spoke up behind Larry.
Larry turned around to see a tall woman standing behind him.She had an athletic build and wore a black dress that clung to her body and small curves. Her hair was the darkest green and her skin was pale with varying degrees of necrosis. Her eyes were yellow.
"Special though you maybe you are still incapable of laying eyes on my true form without breaking your soul.Hence what you are seeing is a limited, miniscule projection and fragment of my true soul.Tell me what is your name my new herald?" The goddess because that was what she was tilted her head to the side in interest. She exuded an aura of majesty and affliction just by standing there.
"My name...is...Larry Kelloman." Larry finished his sentence. His voice filled with embarrassment at the mundane and boring nature of his name.
"Hmmm it is not a name that speaks to your glory.I shall come up with a new name for you after your rebirth and baptism as your new mother it is my duty." The goddess summoned a cauldron full of green and red liquid. The contents of the cauldron bubbled as though it were boiling and bubbles of green or red liquid occasionally escaped its confines.
"Climb into the cauldron and be born anew.I shall also place a divine anchor within your soul as I have done with the other heralds. With it you will command your new found powers. You will grow your divine anchor and powers with the prayers of the faithful and your accomplishments in spreading my gifts as well as vanquishing my enemies." The goddess of pestilence began mixing the contents of the cauldron with a large rusty metal spoon.
Larry had been listening in awe but then became excited as he heard about the prospect of gaining powers. He came close to the cauldron and watched its contents.A bit of doubt entered his mind as he wondered if the liquid was corrosive or acidic.
"Do not fear my gifts shall not harm you but they will transform you." Larry was reassured and he climbed into the cauldron. The liquids melted his clothes as he submerged himself in the cauldron but he was unharmed.
There wasn't any pain or discomfort and Larry felt his body changing.A multitude of changes occurred and not in any specific order but Larry felt his back burst and black raven wings burst from his back. They were patchy and filthy but majestic nonetheless. His skin became pale and necrotic but there weren't any missing patches.Cancerous muscle fibres and bone overtook his muscle and skeletal system. His organs became host to a large host of maladies and diseases.Boney claws broke out from Larry's fingertips and toes.
Then his outfit came into being. It was a long leathery cloak and outfit adorned with crow feathers.A scythe appeared in Larrys hand.It was as though Larry had become a disease vector himself but was because he was.
Sensing that his transformation was complete Larry's head broke the surface of the liquid.
KRAAAAWWWW
Larry's throat let out a mocking parody of a regular crows sound. The goddess looked on with amusement.
"Interesting very few of my heralds gain the gift of flight and your durability and endurance appears to be exceptionally high.Your name shall be Kathlor Morrigan. Now come and embrace your mother."
Kathlor Morrigan climbed out of the cauldron with all the clumsiness of a newborn. He toppled out the cauldron and landed with a thud with liquid still pouring off his body.He spread his wings and approached his goddess.
The goddess for her part spread her arms as though she were about to embrace an infant who was still learning how to walk.
"I will send you back to your original world and I want you to turn it into a plague world worthy of my name.Think of it as a tutorial from one of those games that you mortals waste time playing. Before we do that though, tell me,who sent you here?" The goddess let go of the embrace and looked at Kathlor Morrigan.
Kathlor Morrigan cleared his throat and spoke up.
"It was Billy Johnson mother."
