Chapter 206 – Paying the Price, Destruction Energy
Even at such close range, not even Demigra could withstand the power of this move.
Though he was blasted backward, the explosion of the energy orb Lin Qi had created filled the Time Nest with thick, roiling smoke.
"You idiot, where are you looking?" Lin Qi suddenly darted behind Demigra and landed a punch to his back.
After landing the blow, Lin Qi vanished back into the smoke, his figure completely obscured. Enraged, Demigra could do nothing about it.
He couldn't sense Lin Qi's energy. Why? They were both gods—so why couldn't he sense Lin Qi at all…?
"Damn you!! Hiding like a coward—what kind of god are you?! Come out and face me!"
As Demigra roared in fury, Lin Qi struck him several more times. Within the swirling smoke, Demigra flailed like a fly without a target, crashing around helplessly.
"Well done, Lin Qi! Even if we can't beat Demigra head-on, we can still wear him down with this strategy…"
Time Patrol Gohan's shout drew a twisted smile from Demigra. "If I can't find you… then I'll just go after the others!"
"If the rest of them were in danger, would you really sit back and do nothing?"
Demigra quickly locked on to Time Patrol Gohan and the others, hoping to use them as leverage to force Lin Qi out of hiding.
"Let's start with the Supreme Kai of Time... hahaha! Once I take all of you out, I'll be the new god—the new Supreme Kai of Time!"
Grinning with arrogant delight, Demigra raised his arm to launch an energy blast—but at that very moment, another energy orb struck him squarely in the back.
Boom!
The impact sent Demigra flying. As the surrounding smoke began to dissipate, Lin Qi hovered in midair, his expression cold and detached.
"Despicable people will always be despicable. I'm done playing with you."
A soft purple energy began to radiate from Lin Qi's entire body, and his icy gaze made Demigra falter.
"Heh… have you forgotten? Aside from being a Saiyan, I have another kind of power."
"You're saying… No way. I'm a god now too—you can't kill me!" Demigra was struggling to comprehend the terrifying aura Lin Qi exuded.
A destructive purple energy began to condense in Lin Qi's palm. "Didn't I introduce myself last time? I don't just use Angel techniques…"
"I'm also a candidate to become a God of Destruction."
"What…?" Demigra's eyes went wide in disbelief, staring at the divine energy surrounding Lin Qi. "You… weren't you an Angel?!"
"Oh… did I ever actually say that?" Lin Qi smirked. If he were only an Angel, would Demigra really have been unable to defeat him?
Naive.
"Damn it…" Demigra roared and formed a massive energy blast between his hands, recklessly hurling it toward Lin Qi.
"Die! I'll bring the entire Time Nest down with you!"
Faced with such an enormous surge of power, Lin Qi didn't panic. In fact, he sneered with contempt. "Die? I think you're the one who's finished."
As the massive energy sphere barreled toward him, Lin Qi casually kicked it high into the sky.
BOOM!
It crashed into the barrier near the clockwork components, bursting into dazzling light as smoke and debris rained down. The ground shook violently beneath them.
Lin Qi now stood right before the stunned Demigra, his palm aimed directly at Demigra's face, the destructive energy pulsing steadily.
"Time for you to disappear completely."
"No—!" Demigra desperately tried to dodge, but the blast of destruction energy still cost him an arm.
"Damn it… we're both gods. Why is there such a huge difference between us?!"
Below, Chronoa rubbed the corner of her eye. "I saw it clearly this time—that really was the same destructive energy as Beerus…"
"That overwhelming, world-ending aura—there's no mistaking it."
Time Patrol Goten struggled to his feet and shouted exaggeratedly as he looked up at Demigra in the sky. "Am I seeing things?! Look at him—look at that arrogant guy!"
"He's never looked that scared, not even when facing my dad or Uncle Vegeta!"
Before Goten could finish, Chrono Vegeta smacked him on the head. "Shut up. Don't make dumb comparisons!"
"You're not getting away…" Lin Qi grinned coldly, his gaze growing sharper. "You sealed off the space-time portal earlier, didn't you?"
"Didn't want Trunks calling me for help. And now? You've trapped yourself here. Dug your own grave!"
"Damn it…" Cold sweat drenched Demigra's back. The moment he lost his arm, the thought of retreat had already crept into his mind.
"We worked well together in the past, didn't we? Show me some mercy…" Demigra kept backing away, hoping Robelu would reopen the space-time portal.
"Robelu, open the portal! Now!"
Robelu had long since been stunned by the rapid turn of events and flailed her conductor's baton in a panic.
Chamel quickly conjured a barrier, trying to rush in and rescue Demigra.
"You think… things are going to go your way?" Lin Qi sneered, summoning destruction energy in his palm once more.
"Time to pay the price!" Lin Qi fired the blast at the retreating Demigra—right as Chamel was racing in from behind him.
The destruction energy engulfed Demigra entirely, leaving him no chance to escape—and Chamel, too, was caught in the blast as his barrier shattered.
Damn it! No… I've lost… I, Demigra, lost to this Saiyan… After all my careful planning… Why?! WHY?!
As the destructive energy faded, both Demigra and Chamel began to disintegrate, their bodies breaking down from the feet up, scattering into specks of starlight.
Demigra's anguished screams echoed through the air. Above, Robelu trembled violently as she waved her baton.
Finally, she opened the space-time portal, screaming like a madwoman, "Lord Demigra… AAAAHHHH!"
Lin Qi lowered his hand, ignoring the fleeing Robelu. He powered down from Super Saiyan 5 and descended to the ground, looking at the stunned group around him.
"All done."
"We won?" Time Patrol Pan was still in a daze, clearly struggling to comprehend. "We… really won?"
"Did we actually beat him?" Time Patrol Goten asked, equally uncertain. "He's not coming back, right?"
"I can't sense his energy either… so I'm not sure," Chrono Vegeta shrugged, though the look he gave Lin Qi was filled with barely concealed resentment.
