As the Adrenaline Junkie fell from the sky, someone grabbed him at the last second.
It was Luc.
It took a while for the War-Torn Nation to realize what happened.
"The barrier..." many of the citizens looked at it in shock. It was completely gone, dismantled in its entirety.
Hundreds of citizens rushed to the edge of the nation, where the border once existed.
"It's really... gone?" The Dimension God was startled.
She'd gone her whole life, being forced to run. Forced to hide. She remembered her past, which had deeply mired her mind in doubt.
While she didn't feel fear from a young age, there was a reason for that.
She remembered it.
The moment she was a child, living in a different plane of existence.
If she recalled correctly, it was over 10 years ago.
Residing in an entirely different dimension, her life changed when meeting "him"
The man who was responsible for destroying her home dimension:
THE FREEDOM JUNKIE!
In every dimension, there was a different version of every person. And in every dimension, there was a different Freedom Junkie. All the same person, but with entirely different personalities.
The same rang true for everyone else. In every dimension, people overlap.
As the Dimension God, at this time, only known as Serena - She was holding her nearly dead sister in her hands.
Giant masses of black fog and dissipating fire & rubble surrounded them.
Next to the Freedom Junkie, was his accomplice in this world: The Portal Manipulator.
As Serena held her little sister - Brutally butchered by the 2 that stood before them - She feared what would come next.
Blood pooled from her sister's body, and Serena struggled to pick up her organs, haphazardly trying to shove them back into her body.
At this point in time, she certainly felt fear.
She was desperately crying, begging and pleading.
"Please! Please don't die!"
To her horror, the two Chaotic Demons looked at her face, and cackled in a gruesomely ruthless manner.
"Look at her, she thinks she's people."
The Freedom Junkie made a cruel remark, and his face contorted into a deep scowl.
"Look at you. You pathetic disgrace. All of you sicken me. Writhing around in your own FILTH. Stinking up the goddamn place for all of us."
Laughing, he continued taunting her, laying it in how helpless she was.
"You people have no worth to society. I will purge every last one of you. People like you, who are afraid, trapped like cattle. You're the ones who deserve to die!"
His tone dripped with hideous malice. It was almost too easy to tell that his disgusted glare was out of spite.
The Portal Manipulator next to him laughed. "Don't worry. It'll die, soon enough. We don't have to worry about this... thing."
Thing...
That word held vile connotations. She wasn't human. She was livestock.
Her entire dimension had been taken over by the Chaotic Demons! From every island, to every country, to every planet throughout the entire solar system.
Normal humans had been turned into animals, living only for the enjoyment of these people.
In her original dimension, the moment that people with superpowers started appearing, the world declared that anyone who had powers would be eliminated. But they underestimated the amount.
They also underestimated just how powerful the Chaotic Demons were. In this dimension, there was no such things like the Celestial Angels to balance it out.
All of the nice ones were gone. Eradicated. Their bodies were taken over by the Gods, who ascended to a higher plane of existence.
This only left the most dispicable Chaotic Demons, and normal humans with no powers.
As she continued thinking deep about her past, she shuddered at what occurred next.
As the 2 Chaotic Demons were debating how they could kill the most people in the widest area, a giant shriek of lightning rushed past them.
The Freedom Junkie laughed.
"Road! It's you, or should I say... Zeus? Correct?"
He tilted his head as he said that.
Unfortunately, the Chaotic Demon known as Road, or, what his title referred him as, which was 'The Lightning Bolt', was already taken as a vessel for Zeus.
After the gods started taking them over, a giant war between the Chaotic Demons & the Gods began. Currently, the Gods were winning.
"Clearly, you haven't ascended to a higher realm of existence yet. What's the holdup? Missing this?" Jesse laughed, as he held up a small orb.
"Give that back to me. That's mine! That's my soul!"
As Zeus screamed with a booming voice, Jesse simply shattered it with ease, completely destroying the orb.
"Without your soul, you can't ascend now, can you? Too bad."
Zeus rushed towards in a giant flurry of lightning, but the Portal Manipulator instantly set up a giant portal, flinging Indra all the way across the planet.
"He'll find us in less than a day." She said, annoyed.
"It's okay. Remember, these orbs contain the souls of the Gods. All we have to do is find more, and we can keep them trapped in this shithole."
As the Dimension God sadly looked up, she thought to herself.
The orbs were incredibly important. Once a God revived by using a Chaotic Demon or Celestial Angel as a vessel, their soul would appear on the mortal plane in a random location, trapped inside of one.
In order to ascend to a higher realm, they would have to re-absorb their soul.
If they did that successfully, they'd become true gods with all of the powers that they can only use only while asleep.
The scariest part was that the only indication that a God was about to revive into a vessel was if the Chaotic Demon were using their powers in their sleep.
That would mean that the Gods were controlling them while they slept, and most Chaotic Demons never even knew this information.
But all this information was useless, because...
On this horrific day, Serena was right next to 2 very enraged Chaotic Demons.
She could plead & cry with them, but they would show her no mercy.
At that moment, a very unexpected thing happened.
The Portal Manipulator had struck a weapon directly into the Freedom Junkie's back!
A small, dainty knife. Certainly strong enough to kill someone.
Blood pooled from the knife, and began to flow outwards into a small streak.
"You fuck! What did you do to me!?" He cried out in exhasperation. He clearly didn't know this was going to happen.
"Sorry, but it's not your lover anymore. It's me, Janus."
A crazed smile crept onto the Portal Manipulators now ugly face.
"Jan-" The Freedom Junkie reeled in shock.
Janus, the god of gateways!
In an instant, both Serena & the Freedom Junkie realized what was going on.
Janus had taken over the Portal Manipulators body as a vessel a long time ago, but only now revealed that they had. It was a scheme in order to kill the Freedom Junkie. And it worked.
As she, no.
As HE laughed, he whispered in the Freedom Junkie's ears.
"You're all just our fucking dogs."
His hateful voice coming out from a pretty woman's body was a sound that made Serena very uncomfortable.
And at that moment, the Freedom Junkie fell to the ground, hit his head, and died.
He could teleport, but he still had a fleshy body. He was able to be killed very easily, but his reaction time was usually insane.
Unfortunately, he was blindsided. He had no time to react. That's why it was so easy - He was betrayed.
As Serena watched this spectacle unfold, she was utterly silent.
She thought her home dimension was saved, until the Freedom Junkie opened his eyes once again. But it wasn't him. This time, it was Libertas!
That day, Serena learned that there were 2 conditions for a God reviving.
The first one was that a Chaotic Demon has to lose all hope, faith & love in humanity.
But that one was very difficult to do, because they had to have an abundance of positive emotions & love for the world around them. They had to initially start out as kind souls who were only trying to do the best. Most innocent people didn't change in that way.
But the second, much easier way for one to revive, was for their vessel to be murdered by another God.
But Serena didn't know this. She just came to the incorrect assumption that there was a small chance of a God reviving if their vessel died.
And now...
Janus, holding out a small orb, smiled in satisfaction.
"Nice to meet you again, Libertas. I have a gift for you."
Libertas smiled at Janus, and happily took the orb, absorbing it into her body.
"Now, as the Gods, let us wipe out this worthless world and start anew. Let's demolish their puny hopes and dreams, and kill all of those vile Chaotic Demons!"
As they both smiled, Libertas unleashed her full power, teleporting every orb scattered around the entire universe, all right in front of her.
Then, she proceeded to teleport every single God to her at once.
It was a very frightening sight, as masses upon masses, droves of angry & powerful Gods all ascended in one place. It looked as if it was endless.
They just kept appearing, and at the sight, Serena realized just how worthless trying to stop was.
"What? What the fuck am I doing here?" Indra questioned.
In response, Ebisu, a god of luck, laughed.
"Indra. You're clueless. We are all ascending now."
Another God, by the name of Raijin, laughed. He thought he was better than Indra.
"Indra. Libertas made this plan all along. The second she got her orb absorbed, she was going to use her newfound power to teleport all of us & our orbs, forcing us to ascend. It will destroy the world, however."
They were going to abandon the Gods that failed to take over their vessels, and just leave them.
This many Gods ascending at the same time would destroy the world for sure. The entire universe would completely collapse!
Itzamma was the first God to absorb his orb, completely ascending.
After that, nearly every one of them absorbed their orb at the same time, ascending, and destroying the world!
And right before it all ended, Serena woke up!
She woke up in... a different world. An alternate dimension.
In this new world, she grieved, cried and wept. Her own sister was murdered.
By him.
She thought of getting revenge, but incorrectly guessed that if she killed the Freedom Junkie, Libertas would likely revive again. She absolutely couldn't kill him for the stuff he'd done.
She tried to save the world from the gods, and she failed.
As long as the red thread of fate existed, the Gods would always win. Because they were fated to.
It was embedded into their destiny.
Every time she faced the Chaotic Demons & Gods, she would suffer an unbearable fate.
She was burned alive by the Arsonist.
Electrocuted by Raijin.
Mutilated & tortured for weeks by Shiva.
Every time she died, she'd come back to an entirely new timeline, a little less afraid. A little more calm.
This happened, until eventually, she didn't feel any fear at all.
She didn't care what would happen to her. It didn't matter.
She knew that there were no consequences for failure.
She came to the conclusion that, every time she died, she would be transported to a new dimension, that was similar in some ways to the last, yet still had completely different events attached to them.
For over 500 years, she constantly lived through the cycle of birth & rebirth.
She was sick and tired of it.
And the worst part? She couldn't even commit suicide, end it all.
Because she'd end up right back, in an entirely new world, with even worse horrors.
She didn't know what would happen to the dimensions she left behind, but she didn't care.
I think, therefore I am.
As long as she was still alive, none of that mattered to her.
As she travelled through dimension after dimension, she was constantly put under pressure by the Chaotic Demons & the Gods, dying over & over again, always failing to save the last world she'd abandoned.
And then, she arrived at this world. For some reason, she desperately wanted to save this world. She didn't want to abandon it. She did not want to leave it behind, just like all the others.
But she was trapped...
Stuck in a War-Torn Nation for years, unable to do anything to stop it.
Unable to leave the barrier!
But on this day, finally, she could see the light at the end of the tunnel. She knew what she had to do.
She had to change the world!
She was going to save the Freedom Junkie.
