(Congratulations: You have unlocked a unique hidden SSS-rank class—Lord of Death) (Class

Trait: Sovereign Ascendancy – Grants the ability to acquire additional classes in the future, stacking their powers under your dominion. Current limit: 2 additional classes, expandable with rank ascension.)

(Ding! class items granted)

The golden light vanished as quickly as it came.

Zhao stood in the clearing, the evening air suddenly colder against his skin.

He didn't feel different at first. Just… aware. Like a door had opened in his head and he could see through it now.

He opened the class window.

Class: Lord of Death (SSS)| Description: You rule over death and what follows it.

Skills:

Raise Dead — Point at or touch up to 10 corpses within 50 meters. They rise as obedient undead under your control. Maximum active undead equals your current realm limit (Bronze = 10).

Abyssal Gaze — Lock eyes with one living target within 30 meters. Strike their soul directly. Weak souls die instantly. Stronger ones suffer severe mental pain and disorientation.

Title granted: God of Death (Effect: When you use any death skill, weaker enemies hesitate for a second on first sight.)

Zhao read it twice.

He looked at the three items floating beside him. They had changed shape when the class locked in.

He tapped the first one.

Cloak of the Nether| Description: Black cloth that flows like smoke. When worn, it lets you blend into shadows and move without sound if you concentrate. In dim light or darkness, people looking directly at you have trouble focusing on your outline — their eyes slide off.

He took the cloak off the air and draped it over his shoulders.

It settled without weight. The fabric felt cool, almost liquid. He took one step sideways into the shadow of a tree.

Valorn, standing ten meters away, frowned and looked right at him — then past him.

"Lord?" Valorn said, squinting.

Zhao stepped back into the light.

Valorn blinked.

"There you are."

Zhao gave a short nod.

"Works."

He looked at the second item — a long, curved weapon.

He would check that one next.

But first he needed to understand what he could do with the cloak.

He turned to Elara.

"Watch me."

Elara nodded, eyes sharp.

Zhao walked ten steps away and stepped behind a thick oak.

He pulled the cloak tighter.

The black fabric rippled once, then stilled.

He stood perfectly still.

Elara stared at the tree for five seconds.

Then she frowned.

"I can't see you. Not even your boots."

Zhao stepped out.

The cloak moved with him like normal cloth again.

Elara let out a short breath.

"That's not invisibility. It's… harder to notice."

"Exactly," Zhao said. "In a fight, most people won't spot me until I'm already close."

He looked down at the cloak again.

The edges frayed slightly when he moved, then smoothed out.

No glow. No dramatic effect. Just quiet, practical concealment.

He pulled the hood up.

The world dimmed a little at the edges, like looking through smoked glass.

Valorn walked over.

"Try it on me."

Zhao pulled the hood lower.

Valorn stared straight at him from five meters.

Then Valorn tilted his head.

"I know you're there… but my eyes keep wanting to look at the tree behind you."

Zhao dropped the hood.

Valorn blinked hard.

"Gone again."

Zhao let the cloak settle normally.

"Useful," he said.

Elara was already thinking ahead.

"If we combine it with the dragons' stealth, we can get very close before anyone knows we're there."

Zhao nodded once.

"That's the plan."

He looked toward the cave mouth.

The Ironclaw corpses were already being stripped — cores, hides, a few intact claws. Marcus's team worked fast, no chatter.

Zhao turned back to the floating items.

The scythe and ring waited.

He would check them next.

But the cloak — that one he understood now.

It wasn't flashy.

It didn't make him invincible.

It just made him hard to see.

And in war, that was often enough.
