"What do you mean you think you're pregnant?" Caius asked, sitting upright and staring at her with wide eyes.
They had been lying in bed, ready to drift off to sleep, when she had broken the news to him. His reaction was more explosive than she had expected, but the clear look of joy in his eyes was evident.
"I am a little late," Rose started to explain, and she grabbed his arm so he could lie back down with her.
"A little late?" Caius asked with a soft frown as he lay sideways, his elbow on the bed so he could keep looking at her face. "What do you mean?"
Rose chuckled. "My monthly flow." She lightly touched his face, enjoying the feel of his stubble underneath her fingers.
"And because of that, you think you're pregnant?"
Rose nodded. "I am pretty sure that's how it works most of the time."
His eyes widened ever so slightly. His expression bordered on concern and childish excitement.
"Do you feel ill?" he softly asked. His eyes trailed downwards and rested on her stomach.
