"Visit? What visit?" Rose asked, looking up at Caius.
"That's too long," he said without responding to her question. "Who knows how long the young prince will want to stay?"
"It won't be long," Rylen whispered. "It's merely a courtesy visit. He is sending his son to give you his condolences for your father's death and congratulate you as the new king."
"You know that's hogwash. Vodnik couldn't care less about the state of my kingdom except to check if our defenses are low. I doubt this is just a courtesy visit."
"What visit?" she repeated, loudly this time.
"Apologies, Your Majesty, but the King of Wresthal is sending his son to Velmount in less than two weeks."
"Why am I just hearing about this?"
"That's what the meeting was about," Caius explained. "I hoped I wouldn't have to tell you about it, but of course the lords voted to accept him."
"I see. I'll ask the servants to prepare. How long does he plan to stay?"
