"Evelyn" I jolted awake at the sound of my dad's voice. Wait dad?
"you've been staring into space for the past minute. You're cereal's getting sogg-yah!" He was cut off by me jumping into his arms, sobbing into his chest.
"Evelyn" dad's voice softened "honey what's the matter?"
"I-I thought you died" I said through hiccuping sobs.
"Died? Sweetie I'm starting to worry" he gave me a concerned look.
"Evie sure is acting weird" law whispered to lily.
"I call dibs on her room once she gets sent to an asylum" lilly whispered back.
"Oh ha ha you two are sooo funny" I glared at them. Still it's so strange. Everything looks so normal. Was it all just some crazy dream? It felt far too real for that.
"Wait what day is it?" I turned to dad.
"September fifth" he replied.
"September fifth!" I yelped. That was the day it all started. Have I travelled back in time? Maybe second chances do exist.
"Evelyn are you sure you're ok? Do you need to lie down?"
"Nope I'm totally fine!" I jumped to my feet "in fact I'm going to do a little shopping and these two are going to help me" I grabbed lily and law by the arms.
"Hey!" The yelled at me as I dragged them outside
"Evelyn we didn't agree to go with you" law complained as we made our way to the store "just because your older doesn't mean you get to boss us around"
"That's exactly what it means" I winked at them "here catch!" I threw them each a pricing gun "use this to find the best priced food and throw it into the shopping cart"
"And how are you going to afford this?" Lily raised an eyebrow.
"With this credit card" I grinned.
"Wait isn't that money for your collage funds!" law's eyes were wide with disbelief.
"This is more important" I put my credit card away with a smile.
"Dear god she really has gone off the deep end" lily shook her head.
"And what kind of siblings would we be if we didn't use her mental decline to buy a crap ton of sweets" law said giddily as the two of them rushed off.
I smiled as I watched them run around, spending all my hard earned money. Both lilly and law had curly blonde hair and bright blue eyes like mom while I took after dad with my waist length chestnut coloured hair and emerald green eyes. With their angelic features you'd think they're just the sweetest but they're actually little devil's that spend my collage money without a second thought! I swear twins just always come out of the womb evil.
"Hm?" I noticed a cut on laws hand "that looks pretty sore buddy" I reached out to inspect his hand "How'd you get that-"
"It's nothing stay out of my business!" He pulled away with a glare.
"Okay sorry" I sighed. I guess the teen angst is already kicking in.
"Would this be enough sis?" Lily wheeled over the shopping cart, half of it had decent food and the other half was surgery crap.
"That's perfect" I grinned as I took the shopping cart to the till.
"Are you sure this is a good idea? I'm starting to think I shouldn't be encouraging whatever this is" she gestured to me with a worried expression.
"Don't worry lil. I know what I'm doing" I ruffled her hair before looking ahead determinedly. This time. This time I'll keep my family safe. No matter how many people I have to sacrifice.
