Chapter 251 - Chapter 250: Captain Marvel

The moment this happened, a meteor suddenly streaked across the sky, moving at an incredibly fast speed, and in the blink of an eye, it arrived above the venue.

Boom!

It was none other than Captain Marvel, Carol Danvers.

Unlike the older version of Captain Marvel from a parallel universe, this one was younger, full of vitality, like a blooming rose—beautiful yet dangerous.

Tom, upon seeing her, was briefly surprised. The Captain Marvel in the intel reports did not look like this; it seemed to be a difference due to the parallel universe. However, as long as her personality wasn't vastly different, it wouldn't affect his plan.

"Nick Fury, what is going on?" Carol looked at Nick Fury in a disheveled state and asked with confusion.

To her, Nick Fury didn't seem like someone in danger, and it appeared that a speech was being given here.

"Carol, get me out of here quickly!" Nick Fury came to her side.

Earth was no longer a safe place to stay, and the only way to survive was to leave with Carol to another planet.

"What happened? I can help you solve it," Carol said calmly. Having experienced countless wars in the universe and having saved numerous oppressed races, Carol believed there was nothing on Earth she couldn't fix.

"Carol Danvers."

Tom raised his voice, successfully drawing Carol's attention.

"I've heard of you, Captain Marvel. The universe's famous savior, helping the residents of other planets, protecting universal peace, and assisting the Skrulls in finding a new home."

At first, the audience thought this woman was another superhero, but after hearing the last part, their gazes suddenly changed.

"Is it really you?" Carol asked, noticing the looks around her, but her expression remained unchanged. This was the confidence that came with her immense power.

Nick Fury was about to speak when suddenly his eyes went blank, his mind went completely blank—what was he supposed to say again?

"I am just an Earthling. I've always had two questions for you. Why did you place the Skrulls on Earth? As a protector of the universe, why didn't you protect Earth, even though it has no technological advancement?"

Carol furrowed her brow. She wasn't stupid, and she quickly understood the intent of the person in front of her. However, she didn't deign to lie.

Tom wasn't surprised by this; in fact, he was quite skilled at dealing with people like her.

"Would this make you answer my questions?" Tom pressed a button on his earpiece. "Start now, Doctor Zola."

The large screen behind him changed, showing a massive metal prison, inside of which were a sea of green-skinned people—young and old, surrounded by countless machine guns mounted on the walls.

Bang!

The floor beneath Carol shattered, a powerful energy reaction erupted around her, and her expression darkened.

"Where are they?" she demanded.

"I don't know; this isn't my responsibility. Kill me, and they will die. You fly away, and they will die. But if you answer my questions, they can live."

Tom smiled coldly, a slight, almost imperceptible smirk on his lips. That smile hid a calculated and contemptuous look.

Nick Fury's wife cried as she watched the screen.

The audience held their breath, waiting for Carol's answer.

The reporters' fingers were nearly cramping from taking so many pictures—today's events were one shock after another.

Carol gritted her teeth, her energy swirling around her like a raging storm, but she was suppressing it for the sake of the Skrulls' safety.

She took a deep breath and spoke slowly:

"The Skrulls are refugees. They were being hunted by the Kree and had no place to live in the universe. I promised to help them find a home, and Earth is a temporary safe harbor. Nick Fury and I have been searching for a new place to relocate them."

Tom sneered.

"Temporary? It's been decades; it's practically their home now. You can't possibly be unaware of their capabilities. This isn't relocation. This is an invasion! An alien invasion of Earth!!!"

"And the second question? You travel the universe but offer no help to Earth's technology, letting Earth struggle in crisis."

Carol's gaze was firm as she responded.

"There are crises throughout the universe, and I've traveled across many places, stopping wars and resisting invasions. Earth is not a place I have forgotten. I thought S.H.I.E.L.D. could protect it, and hastily introducing technology could upset Earth's developmental balance."

"Did you know that if it weren't for the Demon King and the mutants, the Zyrtarians' invasion would have destroyed humanity, or even turned us into slaves?!"

Tom raised his voice, angrily accusing her.

"I'll come to save you all then."

Captain Marvel's tone was flat, but it carried an arrogance from her superior position.

The audience below was furious.

"Save us? We don't need your charity, bitch!"

"Who needs you to save us? We have mutants, the Demon King, and our military!"

"Get off Earth, you alien dog!"

Trash was thrown onto the stage.

Carol clenched her fists silently, never before having such an urge to kill someone.

"Are you satisfied now? Let them go."

Tom, hearing the arrogant tone, shook his head in disbelief. Why do such powerful beings always follow supposed rules? A true strong person should be the one to set the rules.

"I told you, this isn't my project to handle, but this is the most I can do."

The machine guns in the screen disappeared.

The screen went black.

"You tricked me!" Carol angrily shouted.

"Skrulls are unmitigated invaders, and for their crimes, we cannot tolerate or condone them. I don't have the authority to let them go easily. They will face a fair trial from the whole world!"

Tom stood unfazed, meeting Carol's furious gaze, and replied sternly.

"Or do you plan to make enemies with humanity for the sake of those aliens, Captain Marvel?"

Tom said with a mocking smile.

Carol's expression soured, and she was about to speak when a sudden sharp pain pierced her brain, her vision blurred for a moment, and then clarity returned. Rage surged inside her. These people were trying to control her mind!

"How dare you!"

A burst of energy surrounded Carol Danvers, and her eyes shone with blinding light. The ground beneath her cracked from the energy shockwaves, and strong winds began to howl.

The entire venue was hit with a powerful shockwave, and dust and debris flew everywhere.

The audience shut their eyes in fear, thinking that death was imminent.

After a while, they didn't feel any pain and opened their eyes in confusion.

In front of them stood a massive black film, perfectly absorbing all the damage.

The metal film started to compress and fold, finally forming a four-meter-long massive cube, its surface pulsing with purple waves.

A figure wearing a helmet descended from the sky.

"It's Magneto!"

"Magneto! Magneto! Magneto!"

The crowd cheered, and Magneto smiled, nodding in acknowledgment.

This was it—the reputation of the mutants was fully turned around. As long as they didn't make major mistakes in the future, nothing could change this.

Quote: "A true strong person should be the one to set the rules, not follow them."
