Gouchen Heavenly Venerate, synonymous with the Supreme Heavenly Emperor of the Upper Palace and also known as Emperor Gouchen.
He, like Emperor Qinghua, is of the same rank as the Heavenly Venerates, higher than both the Martial God and Emperor Donghua in status, and equal to the Jade Emperor, except that he acknowledges the Jade Emperor as the Great Venerable.
Emperor Gouchen governs the poles of the world as well as the Three Realms of Heaven, Earth, and Humanity, overseeing the matters of warfare amongst mortals and revered as the Martial God.
Being known as the Martial God, his strength speaks for itself.
When Sun Wukong made havoc in the Heavenly Palace, Emperor Gouchen happened not to be present; otherwise, even Heavenly King Li would have had to bend his waist and listen to his orders.
