Chapter 18 - Survive, Plan, Execute:2

Dons a few feet away walking back and forth. Scratching the top of his head, hard. Trying to think of a different plan. Because his first plan was get answer then get results.

Footsteps going back and forth over and over he's walking over the same prints he has previously made. Sometimes leaving a new trail just to go back to the old trail.

"F*ck, what the hell are we supposed to do now?."

Im still crouched down next to the body of mole. I'm a few feet away from his body and Don is a few feet away from me. I've been staring at his face his eyes open while he's in the abyss of death. His mouth foamed to the brim with white, soapy, liquid.

I turn my head around to face him. He's looking down at me, at Mole. I'm not really sure, but he's looking down in my direction.

"I don't know…"

That slides out of my mouth in an instant but that was a mistake:

"… I do know, I lied. Before coming back here I saw these people and—."

Don cuts me off.

"What the hell do you mean, "before you came back.?"

I'm visibly annoyed that he cut me off and hopefully I'm showing it.

"If you let me continue?"

"Yeah, yeah. Continue."

"Okay what I said was, before coming back from whatever happened, I saw everything. Like I saw everything they were going to do as well. The amount, who the leader is, who is preparing what, what is being prepared and what I think is most important…"

Shivers start crawling up my body. My hairs start standing tall, feeling the pain that I have felt before thinking it was my death.

…The burning."

"What f*cking burning?"

"Soon, most likely when these guys were supposed to come back they were going to burn the remaining people around. I remember this, firstly because it was the last thing I experienced but also because the screams before I died and the feeling of death enveloping my body."

Now standing in place, he gives me a confused look. I don't know what he's more confused about though. Might be the fact I know about the burning. That fact that I told him just about perfectly when these people would be here or the fact that I just told him I died but not really.

"You have to believe me, man."

He standing in place in the area where his numerous steps have been taken. He stop scratching his head, which is a good thing, cause anymore head scratching and he'd start bleeding through his skull.

"Ok, yeah, what the f*ck are you saying?"

'Great, now I'm crazy.'

"Okay, believe me or not, but there was be deaths soon. I think this building here is a good spot to look around and see for yourself if I'm telling the truth that people will be there."

The building in question was the building I was hiding behind before Mole and the other came along. It was in the direction they came in and it will also be the best place we have at see over them.

Don, starts looking around. Turning again and again. Not sure if he's listening to me or not.

'Hopefully he heard what I said.'

Back and forth. He goes on looking for something.

"Don, you hear me?"

"Yeah, I heard you. Dude where the f*ck is Paul? I can't find him."

"Now that I think about it, I haven't seen him since we caught Mole and he ran off."

There are faint marks on the ground. Leading in the direction the soldiers came from but on our side leading away from us. I get up to stand, we both start following the foot steps. Hoping, we'd get along with Paul if we continued to follow these feet prints.

Following the footsteps we end up being led beside a building. Hearing faint talking from the enemy, still unable to discern what they are saying. We both stop behind, slowly creeping to the end, while looking over our shoulders ever second, hoping to not get caught. Soon we get to the end.

Crouched down, peeking the corner, we see two soldiers a tall one and a short soldier. Remembering the short soldier he's the one that helped start up the flamethrower. He standing there just talking with the other soldier.

The other soldier seemingly holding a prisoner, a prison desperately trying to escape his grasp. We both only see his back. Unable to figure out who that is. They are talking but it seems that they soon end up getting infuriated by his endless, crazy movements.

The tall soldier holding the prisoner brings his arm up high, high above his head till it can't go any further and he swiftly bring it down into his neck knocking him out quickly. His body goes limp and he gets dropped to the ground seemingly because he's to heavy.

His face is now turned toward our direction. The prisoner that was with him turns out to be Paul. He was trying to get out and never once asked for help. Which is probably a good thing because he would have died once he was set free.

Tall soldier most likely tells the shorter one to bring him over to the rest of the prisoners who are soon to be burned. The soldier nods, grabs Paul by his legs, dragging his face against the ground, he starts heading toward the podium.

Tall soldier stays behind, in the uniform that he is wearing he grabs a pack of cigarettes pulls one out and grabs a lighter from the pocket on the side of his pants. He lights the cigarette and takes a long, drawn out puff of it.

'The cigarette is what's going to kill him.'

["We should wait for him to finish his cigarette and the. Take him when he least expects it."

That's the plan that was whispered to me by Don. I don't have any other plan but this one. And even if that does work we still have to get through about nine more soldiers after getting rid of tall soldier.

"Yeah, that will be what we do. After all I don't have any other plan."

We wait for a while. The guy almost never finishes his cigarette. He also takes a while. The buildings around us are obstructing all the other soldiers from seeing us but it's just him. I'm growing very inpatient. I might just rush out and get him.

Time flies past and I hear two gun shots go off meaning that this time around now the escapee should have tried to get away. Few seconds go by and we hear multiple guns fire go off.

We both look at each other for a quick second then in that instant we both knew to look over the corner of the house and check him. We both see a cigarette bud, and a jingling sound which is probably the tall soldier. Another quick glance and we get up and follow after him. Going just fast enough to be behind him but far enough to not get caught.

Soon we come across the soldiers all of them once again I'm now able to confirm the numbers it is truly ten soldiers if I included Mole and the other guy, but they are both dead so it numbered at eight.

Leader, Flamer, R*pist, Tall, Short, and the other don't have any distinguishing features. We followed Tall, till we ended up almost getting caught. A ruined house our only cover from what we witness.

The burning, the woman once again caught. Paul on the ground asleep, they never bothered to wake him. The escapee on the ground riddled with bullets. Flamer, ready to burn. Short helping him start up the flamethrower. I can smell the scent of the gasoline that is going to end up on the bodies of the victims and lead toward their deaths.

The praying gets louder. The Yelling. The Crying. The God awful singing that the Leader is doing once again and the laughters. They don't even think of the people around them as people… No, the people that were burned were like cows.

Bred. Left to eat, fatten them up. Kill them in the absolute most ruthless way. Cut them up. Send them out to big people. Cook them, and have a laugh. A jolly old good laugh until they finish eating their cooked cow.

A yell erupts from behind me. Turning to my side I see Don standing up straight in the open. Rifle in hand, he turns the safety off, and bullets go flying. It all feels like it was all in slow motion but going so fast that I wasn't able to process any of it well.

His finger pulls the trigger. A bullet hits Tall, the closest soldier to us square in the chest that kills him in an instant making him drop his gun, then his body dropping to the floor. It seems that the enemies have caught on after their comrade died. Flamer is the first to notice but he can't get him with the flamethrower. He's half a football field away. Making the shot the Don takes easy for a heavy non-moving target.

He shoot the tank on his back which still has a considerable amount of gasoline left after the burning. Short who is right behind Flamer gets the most on him as flamer goes flying from the explosion. The explosion ignited the gas on his body lighting him on fire. Another gunshot goes off but this time it's not him that shoot.

Leader. He has a revolver. A six shot, revolving gun that has a pin on the back, that ignites the gunpowder pin on the back of a bullet propelling the bullet to fly. The strength of these revolvers have always varied but there's one thing that's sure. Those damn guns pack a punch.

Another shot goes of. So does another. Blood spewing out of the bullet wound. His body feels like it still alive, only for a second before he slumps to the ground hitting it hard. Letting a thump sound and his gun drop. On the impact with the ground the gun let off a single shot, but the gun was faced in the air.

I look over the corner soldiers all the rest are heading over toward my direction. R*pist leading the charge. Leader still on top of the podium with the revolver. I grab my Mp and stand. All of them slowly headed to me guns in hand and time not on my side I decided to do the same thing he did but this time I have a different gun and I will survive.

On the other side of Don's body there is a small concrete structure that was most likely a building now broken because of the battle that went on here. Just high enough for me to crouch behind and if need for me to shoot over.

I jump out, literally jumping out. Jumping over Don while squeezing the trigger. Covering the distance and headed for cover behind the wall. Now behind the wall I carefully take a peek out from my cover. I hit one soldier fatally and R*pist on the leg he's being dragged. That just leaves one person guarding him. I get out of cover.

Before I'm able to pull the trigger I hear a gun shot. Then another, and one more. Then clicks. The guard soldier was never able to pull it I saw his gun jammed. I tunnel vision on the wrong person.

Leader drops his gun and starts singing again in that horrible voice that he previously sang in before. The guard dropped his weapon and immediately started getting to work on helping him. I drop behind the wall. Staring at the dead body of Don. Blood shot eyes his. Blood now slowly spreading to me. Or mine spreading over to him.

"We almost had it."

Don starts talking to me.

'I'm going hysterical.'

A small gargled laugh comes out. Spewing blood on the ground. But I just can't stop laughing it seems a bullet hit me in the head.

Leader comes around with the revolver still loading in the bullets, well bullet. The last bullet is placed and he spins the revolving, till he slams it to a stop placing the six pins back in place. He holds the gun up to my head as I'm lying, dying on the ground. He starts singing his song again. He pull the pin back, BANG. Death]

I grab my head, letting out heavy breathing Don is still near me, both watching the soldier. Taking a long drag. I turn to Don he says.

"We should wait till he finishes…"
