Chapter 55 - Stunned

Before Uchiha Reel and Uchiha Yan were detained, the Uchiha clan had been secretly undermining the Fire Country's system of rotating five young ninjas as protectors.

As a result, the clan transferred new members. Uchiha Saka's eldest son, 12-year-old Uchiha Hachidai, and his second son, 12-year-old Uchiha Inami, were assigned. Additionally, 19-year-old Uchiha Kenshin, who was already married and had led the clan to third place in the Ninja Sword Tournament, was chosen to lead them.

These were all trusted clan members. It was clear that the Uchiha intended to strengthen the bonds between the younger generation, mirroring the close relationships their parents once had.

Yang greeted Uchiha Kenshin and told him he planned to return to Konoha. The family would send another brother to take his place as the guardian of the Fire Country's daimyo.

Before leaving, Uchiha Yang transferred the role of captain to Uzumaki Zhiyuan, the oldest in the group. Since the Temple of Fire and other clans contributed members to the rotation, it was only fair that the Uzumaki clan, who had lived in the Fire Country for generations, also took charge. The daimyo had already expressed trust in them, making the decision a smooth one.

When Yang arrived at Konoha and greeted his clan members, he noticed their hesitation. No one was speaking directly to him. Sensing something was off, he asked outright, but they still hesitated.

Feeling uneasy, Yang returned home—only to be stunned. His father, Uchiha Fugaku, was in the kitchen, cooking.

"Father… your cooking… don't you know your own skill level?" Yang muttered in shock.

Fugaku turned around, smiling. "Haha, Yang, you're back! Your mother went for a walk. She'll be back soon. Dinner's almost ready."

"Father… maybe I should cook? I've learned a few dishes from Uchiha Yan—"

Fugaku waved him off. "No, no. Your mother and I discussed this, and everyone says my cooking has improved. You should try it."

Yang panicked internally. If I run to Ichiraku Ramen now, it should still be hot when I get back… wait, who is 'everyone'?

Just as he was about to protest, the courtyard gate creaked open. Yang rushed outside, prepared to tell his mother about his father's dangerous culinary experiment.

But when he saw his mother, he froze.

Her belly was round—clearly pregnant. Beside her stood a beautiful young woman, holding a vegetable basket with one hand and gently supporting his mother with the other.

Yang's mind short-circuited. Did… did my parents actually follow the Uchiha clan's second-child policy?! Mother's about to give birth?! But I was only gone for half a year!

Mikoto Uchiha smiled warmly at him. "What's wrong, Yang? Don't like the idea of siblings? Don't worry, you'll always be our favorite."

Fugaku laughed. "We wanted to experience raising a child properly this time. And surprise! We're having twins. Soon, I'll ask the Hyuga clan to check if they're boys or girls."

Yang struggled to process this information but then turned his attention to the young woman standing beside his mother. She looked a lot like Uchiha Jiri, the legendary kunoichi who created Izanami.

"Hello," she said shyly. "My name is Uchiha Mimi. Please take care of me."

Yang snapped out of his daze. "Ah—uh—hello! I'm Uchiha Yang. Nice to meet you!" He awkwardly scratched the back of his head.

Mimi blushed slightly. "I'll start cooking. I bought fresh ingredients today, and Uncle Fugaku asked me to help. You and your father should talk."

She quickly disappeared into the kitchen, replacing the king of dark cuisine.

Mikoto chuckled. "Yang, this is Mimi, the girl I picked for you. Isn't she lovely?"

Yang's brain stalled. Picked for me? What?

Mikoto continued, "Mimi's father was your uncle. He fell in love with a civilian woman and married her despite the clan's disapproval. As a result, he was disowned. Later, he died in battle, and Mimi was raised outside the clan.

Some time ago, certain members of the branch family tried to bring her back, but her mother refused, wanting nothing to do with the Uchiha. The stress caused her to have heart palpitations, and in desperation, she accepted a marriage proposal from a civilian.

However, Mimi carries the bloodline of the Uchiha. Our family has a tradition—those descended from Mangekyō Sharingan users have a higher chance of awakening it. Fugaku and I both come from lines that produced Mangekyō Sharingan wielders, so the clan wouldn't let Mimi go so easily.

To resolve the situation, I declared that she was your fiancée. That way, she could stay with us, and her mother wouldn't object."

Yang listened carefully but then realized something alarming. "Wait… we're close relatives. Isn't that a problem for future children?"

Mikoto burst into laughter. "You're so responsible, Yang! But don't worry.

Your maternal grandfather and my father were half-brothers. That means Mimi and I are only distant cousins. Besides, the Uchiha have strong genetics. Each generation in our line has awakened three-tomoe Sharingan with ease. That's why our family was once one of the strongest in the clan.

Mimi is perfect for you. There's no issue with genetics. Now, do you feel better?"

Yang stood there, completely overwhelmed.

One generation, two generations, three generations… wait.

Suddenly, a horrifying realization struck him.

In the original timeline, Uchiha Shisui was from the Uchiha Kagami's line. Shisui was around one or two years older than Itachi… which means if I marry Mimi, I might be Shisui's father?!

His stomach twisted. That means Shisui could have inherited my beliefs—or worse, been manipulated into betraying the clan just like in the original story. If I die in battle, and my father raises him for a while…

That explains why he was so loyal to Konoha's leadership. He might have been brainwashed!

No! I have to prevent this! I can't let history repeat itself!

Yang took a deep breath, shaking off his panic. As he stepped inside, he watched Mimi cooking and made a firm decision.

I have to make sure I survive. And most importantly—I need to keep my son away from my father!.
