I end up walking with Miko, showing him everything there is to see, which isn't much, really.
But the afternoon ends on a lighter note, even though I have walked him all around the neighborhood but avoiding the street leading to my previous home. I am just not ready yet.
We say hi to the people I grew up around; the shopkeeper by the corner where we get some ice sticks and eat. Apparently, Miko has never had an ice stick, the kind that I used to have when I was walking home from school on a very sunny day.
He is such a rich kid, I sometimes forget we are so different, from different worlds.
They all remember me. Granted, it hasn't been years and years, but they are still friendly, offering me comfort and kind smiles, saying grandma was a wonderful woman, which I take with a kind smile.
I keep on waiting for them to ask me what I am doing around here, but the community doesn't. They embrace me, like the small boy I was, a child in the community. Like I never left.
