Chapter 15 - Chapter 15

Cashew ran outside, not wanting to hear the Anti-magic book, and started running in a random direction, not wanting to head in his usual direction out of fear that his father would check there first.

While running through the forest, he came across a dirt road that he has never seen before.

A few seconds later, he heard some horses galloping down the road, looking to see who it was, it was the giant Horses in dark purple and light purple armor, with the matching knights as well.

Running down the path next to the horses, looking for Simon, he hears a voice call to him.

Tarhil: Little man, what are you doing so far from home?...

Cashew: Simon.

Tarhil: Hm? What?

Cashew: Which ones Simon?

Corpo: The purple one.

Cashew: You're all Purple!

Simon: Over here. What do you need, kid?

Cashew followed the voice and found himself next to Simon and his horse. Cashew looked up, feeling like he has to literally lay on the ground just to look at Simon without breaking his neck.

Cashew: Book. Where's the book? You still have it? Can I have it, please and thank you.

Simon: You want it? Your dad said you didn't.

Cashew: As of 5 minutes ago, he was in the process of making me read an anti magic book.

Simon: oh... I see, well. You can have the book.

Simon said as he removed the book from a bag on his horse and dropped it, asking Cashew if he was ready to catch first, then dropping it, which Cashew caught.

Cashew: Thank you!

Lona: Simon, you sure that's a good idea? His dad clearly doesn't want him learning magic, you sure it's a good idea to sneak h-...

Lona was cut off by a Water Ball to the face.

Cashew: Shut! Thats why everyone bullies you! Thank you, Simon!

Cashew then ran underneath Simons horse and to the other side of the road, disappeating in the trees, clutching the new book tightly. Simon and a few other knights chuckled at Cashews comment, meanwhile Lona is removing his helmet to get the water out.

Simon: The kids got a point. You're no fun to be around.

Lona: But he's not your kid. You're enabling him to do things his father doesn't approve of.

Simon: But his mother is fine with it. Supportive, even. Plus, I don't care much for golems and carrying that book around for 5 months was getting annoying. Taking up space in my bag....

Unnamed Knight Woman: Didn't the kid want a Restoration book, though?

Simon: Don't remind me, Sasha... That was a headache... Turns out, you need permission from the King himself to get a spellbook on Restoration magic, the King won't even acknowledge my existence... So I settled with the cheapest spell book I could find in the capital.

Back to Cashew, he is still running through the forest, stopping when he ran into one of his traps that he set for catching animals to eat.

Cashew: Huh... I don't remember coming across that road when setting this trap. How did I manage to avoid it?

Deciding that the road isn't important, he peeked into the trap and saw that it caught a rabbit.

30 minutes later, the Rabbit meat is being cooked over a campfire and Cashew is glancing through the Golem Construction book. The book is very big compared to his first book, but he's big enough that it doesn't matter anymore.

Reading the book, Golems seem surprisingly easy to make, with the hardest part being to gather the resources needed. You can make a Golem out of basically anything, Wood, Stone, Metal, Clay, Snow, Ice, Mud, Magma, Anything, really. There is also an Easy way and a Hard way to make Golems. Although based on the book, it looks like it's actually "The Hard Way" or "The Really Hard Way".

"The Hard Way" would be finding all the materials needed to construct a Golem, Carve them into the shape you want or find pieces that match the shape of the body part it's gonna be, draw the corresponding runes on the respective parts, connect them together, Draw an even bigger Rune somewhere on the golems body, that rune would be a catalyst of sorts for you to inject a large amount of mana into the Golem, and the Golem would be powered by that mana you inject into it.

"The Really Hard Way" would be simply finding a catalyst, (anything would do) and drawing an even more complex Rune onto what you chose as a catalyst, injecting an even larger amount of mana into the catalyst, and whenever you activate the catalyst, it will absorb the materials nearby and build itself a body using it, repairing itself any time it takes damage. This is how natural golems formed by nature work and it has to be in an area full of materials that match what the catalyst is made out of. So a stone catalyst won't work unless the area is full of stone.

Both methods are impossible for Cashew to do now because of his small Mana pool, but the book could be useful on learning more about runes, since maybe the runes used to plant traps and the runes used to make Golems are similar in some way. He won't know until he reads the book more.

Cashew: Since my father seems even more adamant on keeping me away from magic, I think it's time I started learning to survive out here on my own...

He said to himself before taking a bite of the rabbit meat he was cooking.

Cashew: Why did he teach me how to gut and skin animals, anyways? What's that have to do with being a model Knight?... Do knights normally survive out in the wilderness and kill their own meals?... Ok, that sounded like a stupid question, thinking about it, but I'm surprised he taught me at a young age.

Cashew took another bite out of his meal, finding it bland and wishing he had salt to put on it.

While Cashew is enjoying his meal, Eric is running through the forest, trying to find Cashew, annoyed that Cashew ran away from the Anti-Magic book and determined to bring him back. He headed in the direction Cashew would normally practice his sword swings, thinking he would be there, only to see he's not. He then headed in the direction of the River, only to see he's not there.

Cashew has finished his meal, burned all the insides of the rabbit, kept the fur, and is currently kicking dirt on his campfire, getting ready to reset his trap and leave the area.

Eric is out of places that he knows Cashew likes to be, at first, he was angry that Cashew ran away from the Anti-Magic book, but now he's worried Cashew may have been caught by Goblins again.

Cashew is looking at the fur from the rabbit, he was gonna try and make a bag of sorts out of it, but it's too small for his new book, so now he's unsure what to do with it.

Cashew: Maybe I could sell it? Whenever I killed my meals, id usually give the fur to my father, but he's certainly not gonna be happy about me running away from his book, so maybe I could try to sell it...

Cashew decided to head back to the village and see if there is anyone who would buy rabbit fur from him, if he can't find anyone, then he could give it to his mother.

Villager 1: Sorry, I don't need Rabbit fur.

Villager 2: Aw, how cute! You're trying to make some money! Unfortunately, I don't need Rabbit hide.

Villager 3: You're dad is looking for you, You know?

Villager 4: Sorry, there's nobody here who buys things. You're better off giving it to your parents.

Villager 5: This rabbit hide is in poor condition, so I don't think you can sell it either way.

Cashew was defeated. Nobody in the village was interested in the Rabbit Hide, left with the option to either keep it or give it to his mother, he chose to give it to his mother.

Cashew Worked his way back home and looked for his mother, who was shearing the sheep.

Cashew approached her and handed her the Rabbit fur, she took it in confusion.

Sara: Your father is running all over the place, looking for you, you know, he even got a few of his guard friends looking for you.

Cashew: I see... Tell him I'm fine. Also, tell him I'll burn the Anti-Magic book next time he tries to make me read it.

"Dammit... Now I need to find a spellbook on fire magic in order to hold up on that promise..." Cashew thought to himself, wondering where he would find a spell book on fire magic.

Sara: Hold up, since when did you have an attitude?

Cashew: Since always, you just never experienced it before I started talking.

Sara: I hate to break it to you, but you're not going anywhere until your father is back. He's worried and he needs to have a talk with you.

Cashew: Let me guess, he needs to tell me about how only cowards use magic and how I can't grow up to be a coward?

Sara: I don't get why he hates magic either, but ne needs to talk to you.

Sara got up and started walking over to Cashew, intending to pick him up and carry him inside.

Cashew: You know, technically, I'm an adult now. Isn't that how this world works? Once you're old enough to move and start helping out, you're adult enough?

Cashew wasn't even sure how true that was, in history of his old world, Most people were considering adults once they could start helping out, and since this world is pretty far behind in technology, he's applying that logic here as well. Sara was caught off guard by the Statement and even stopped walking.

Sara: What? No. You're not an adult. Just because you can move around on your own and have a conversation doesn't mean you're an adult.

Cashew: Well, I'm gonna spend some time away, so you don't need to worry about me.

Cashew started walking away again.

Sara: What? That's even more reason to worry! You're not going anywhere.

Cashew kept walking away, not listening to his mother, even bolting deeper into the forest, running off into the distance while his mother can't keep up, well, she can't keep up because her dress keeps getting caught on branches and her entire dress from the hips down is ripped up. She stopped chasing and went inside to change and look for Eric.

Cashew decided to run around the village again and try to sneak into the jail, he found his first spell book in the jail, so maybe he could find one on Fire magic in there as well. He snuck around the guards, Using Water Ball to distract the ones he couldn't avoid, unfortunately having to hit a few guards with Water Ball, but he eventually made it into the evidence room and walked straight to the confiscation chest, Rummaging through it hoping to find a spellbook or something on Fire magic.

Unfortunately, he had no luck. All he found in the chest was a few small weapons, a bottle full of a liquid he doesn't recognize, an erotic book about how different humanoid monsters are in bed, and a few letters that he didn't bother to open and read.

Disappointed, Cashew snuck out of the evidence room, snuck around the jail area to get out, and eventually heard his father arguing with a guard, talking about something he can't make out.
