Chapter 223 - Elemental Moon Cores

Chapter 223: Elemental Moon Cores

Bolton Lands

POV of Domeric Bolton

Domeric crafted yet another ritual circle on the ground and planted yet another weirwood sapling at the center of it.

The ritual circle would aid the tree and allow it to reach adulthood in a month.

This was a ritual that he knew very well. Too well, he would say, as he had performed it more than a hundred times in the past week since he had come back from Purgatory.

In fact, he had planted so many trees that even his enhanced back was starting to hurt from all the labor.

He once again lamented the lack of any other magical human who could use his brand of magic.

But no one could do it.

He knew because he had made all the people with even a drop of magic in his domain try to use the wands or write the runes.

It didn't work.

And now here he was. Doing the back-breaking work, which required him to plant about 7777 trees in his domain, allowed him to make a grand magical ward that would protect the whole of the Bolton lands from the winter snow and cold.

The whole thing would be so powerful that winter would never come in his lands. And even if it did, it would be mild at best.

The whole project would take half a year to complete, according to his estimation.

He had only been at it for a week, and he was already bored to death.

And his back.

He was not sure if his back would survive all this work.

At least he was able to bring most of the Children of the Forest with him for this project. Carving the faces on so many trees was well beyond the two resident Children, Ash and Leaf.

Getting the Children of Forest involved in this project wasn't too difficult. On the contrary, they seemed pretty eager to help Domeric.

And Domeric was grateful to Lady Terra for this. At first, he was intimidated by the fact that, thanks to Lady Terra's blessing, the Children of Forest considered him their leader and addressed him as the O Blessed One.

Being their leader wasn't a problem. After all, he was also the giants' leader, but he was sure that if monikers like "O Blessed One", "Chosen One of the Old Gods" spread, or worse, if it reached his aunt's ears, it would cling to him forever.

Fortunately, Leaf and the other Children of Forest agreed not to use those monikers in front of anyone else.

And their participation in this project had at least saved Domeric the trouble of transforming the weirwood trees into Heart Trees and connecting them to the world's source of magic.

Otherwise, he would have to do all of this work himself, with his newly gained power thanks to Lady Terra's blessing, and even Domeric couldn't predict how long it would take to finish this project then.

And this magical ward was quite important to him. He might have told others it was to protect the lands of Bolton from the winter snow and cold, but there were many more reasons behind it.

Thanks to the book named "Magical Cores and Elemental Moons", gifted to him by Lady Death, Domeric now knew how to wield higher-level magic.

The information he acquired primarily included details on how mages would create a magical core and the elemental moon cores that would orbit around the magical core.

While Domeric, with all the knowledge he had gained, could now craft magical cores himself, he had already acquired one in the past thanks to the Deathly Hallows tattoo. Therefore, he could skip this step.

According to his knowledge, magical cores, while capable of generating energy on their own, were inherently neutral, meaning they could not generate higher-level magic.

To achieve this, Domeric needed elemental moon cores that would orbit around the magical core and elementally transform the magic he derived from the core into higher-level magic.

But to create each elemental moon, he needed to set up a ritual circle in the appropriate environment and slowly absorb the necessary element from the environment.

Furthermore, not every mage could use every elemental moon. Someone could only use those suited to their own constitution. However, as Domeric was Lady Death's champion, this was no problem for him.

Based on the tests he conducted using the knowledge he had acquired, he could wield all levels and types of elements.

So, what he was doing here wasn't just any magical ward. It was a grand ritual circle he'd constructed to generate the Life Elemental Moon for himself.

This was one of the most challenging of the elemental moon ritual circles he'd constructed in the past week. The basic elemental moon ritual circles, like fire, water, air, and earth, were the easiest. Then came the next level, like the elemental moons of light, dark, space, nature, time, etc.

And then, at the very top, the highest-level elemental moons of Life, Death, and Chaos.

The construction of Death and Chaos elemental moons was quite tricky, as the suitable environments for these elements were not readily available in a normal world, at least in abundance.

However, the Life element was more abundant in this world than the other two elements because every living creature carried Life energy.

However, according to Domeric's research, the creatures that contained the most Life energy and produced it continuously were Heart Trees.

Therefore, Domeric was attempting to create a magical ward that would house 7,777 Heart Trees. With this ward, he could absorb the excess Life energy produced by the Heart Trees without harming them, thus creating the Life Elemental Moon.

This magical ward would also protect the lands of Bolton from winter snow and cold, increase their crop production and productivity, and act as a shield against White Walkers if they attempt to reach his lands.

After all, the Life element was powerful enough to counter and oppose the Death element.

The real problem was that he didn't know how long this shield would hold against the White Walkers. After all, every ward had its limit. And he didn't know how long it would take the White Walkers to breach that limit.

It irked him to admit it, but there were still a lot of things he didn't know about the White Walkers.

So, the safest course of action was to try to stop them at the Wall. Because if the White Walkers crossed the Wall, then the North would be fucked.

'Fuck.' The whole thing irritated him to no end.
