Chapter 137 - Hoverboards

Lundenhold

POV of Domeric Bolton

"I can't have it be said that I don't reward excellent work. Plus, I may not want to brag, but I consider myself a fairly generous person. Ask for what you want, and I'll go to lengths to give it to you." Domeric said.

The Grandmaster Blacksmith Tobho Mott looked like he wanted to say something but was hesitant. So Domeric looked into the man's eyes, and a simple legilimency probe told him what the man wanted.

If the man had any family, then he would definitely have used this boon to help make their lives easier.

But as it was, the man had no one except for Gendry and the two new apprentices he had taken. Because of that, the man wanted to have his legacy to ensure that the world would still remember him when he died.

"If you do not have any idea, how about I make a suggestion." He said, bringing the man out of his thoughts.

"A 50-foot statue of you is at the center plaza of the Smithing Sector. And while I'm at it, I'll also change the name of the whole street to Tobho Mott Street. Would that suit your liking, Master Tobho Mott?" he asked.

The man's eyes widened, tears started flowing down his cheeks, and he nodded quickly.

"That would be… excellent. The man nodded. "Thank you, my lord. Thank you very much."

He nodded and put the Valyrian Steel armor inside his bottomless pouch, casting a charm on the man to ensure he wouldn't notice it.

"No. You've done great work here. There's no need for you to thank me." He told the man. "I'll send some men to take your measures. If everything goes well, the statue will be completed by the end of the year. Is that acceptable to you?"

"That is more than acceptable, my lord. Thank you. Thank you so much."

He held the urge to roll his eyes and simply nodded.

"I'll also send 12,000 gold dragons for your work." He told the man. "1000 for each month."

The blacksmith simply nodded, too overcome by emotions and shock to say anything anymore.

"I hope I'll be able to ask for your services in the future as well?"

"Definitely, my lord. Definitely." The man said, wiping the tears from his eyes.

"In that case, have a good day, my friend." He said, covering his face with the hood before leaving the room.

He did have a 50-foot-tall statue to transfigure, after all.

Of course, he'll have to hide the statue for the next few months because no statue was completed in such a short time.

Maybe he should stop using his magic this once and commission someone to do it for him.

Then again, he didn't often get the chance to show his artistic side with his magic these days, so he didn't want to let go of this chance either.

'Transfiguration it is, then.'

But he had another project that he was nearing the end of, and he wanted to finish it before making the statue.

He had been working on a new kind of flying object for some time. He had made himself a flying broom in this world because he had been used to it in his past life. But after using a flying broom in this world for a while, he realized that it lacked something important.

When he was using a flying broom, he could not use his hands and upper body freely. His upper body had to stay close to the broom, and at least one of his hands had to hold the broom and adjust its direction.

If you just looked at it from a transportation point of view, there was nothing wrong with it, and contrary to popular belief, it was generally comfortable to travel sitting on brooms with softening charm and other spells.

But it wasn't just flying devices for transportation that Domeric wanted. He needed flying objects to allow him to use his hands freely for himself and the new unit he wanted to create.

For this, he started to build a flying object based on the skateboards that existed in his past life. Unfortunately, the 'Flying Magical Item' award he had previously won did not include such a flying object, and he had to make it from scratch.

He could at least reduce his workload by using flying objects with some commonalities, such as flying carpets, and now he was almost at the end of his project.

This flying object, which he called a Hoverboard, was more challenging to control than flying brooms. After all, he only had to control it with his legs and lower body without involving his hands and upper body.

It was also more challenging to balance as he had to stand on it rather than sit on it, but once he got used to it, Domeric could at least use his hands comfortably while flying on the hoverboard.

The fact that his hands were free meant that he could use hoverboards as more than just a means of transportation. He could fight with his sword or wand while hovering close to the ground, or he could cast a Disillusionment Spell on himself and rain wildfire bombs down on his enemies from the air.

In fact, one of the objectives of the new unit he wanted to create was to carry out air strikes. Apart from air strikes, he also wanted to use them for scouting and logistics.

Domeric was walking the streets of Lundenhold with plans for a new hoverboard unit in his head when he suddenly got a familiar reaction from the tattoo on his right hand. After ensuring no one was around with a Homenum Revelio, he quickly entered a nearby alleyway and apparated to his room in the Dreadfort.

"Colloportus." Once in his room, he locked his door with a locking spell. He then sat on his bed and consciously dived into his tattoo of 'the Symbol of Deathly Hollows.'
